It seems like recently the drip tray on my Gaggia Platinum fills up a lot faster than it used to. I used to have to dump the grounds more than the drip tray but now it's the other way around. What might have caused this?

Sanfam ♦ This type of change is most often tied to either a change in coffee type or a need to adjust the dose/grind settings on your machine. Water will generally take the path of least resistance through your machine. If your coffee is ground slightly too fine or if there is simply too much being dosed out, water may leak around the seals inside of the brewing chamber rather than go through the puck itself. An easy fix is to try reducing the "Aroma" setting (the dose) to a lower level, and/or adjust the grind to a slightly coarser setting.
Also consider usage habits; As many machines have automatic rinse cycles on start/end, a change from brewing only once in the morning to several shots throughout the day would result in more waste water ending up in the drip tray as a result of repeated rinse cycles using no coffee.
Finally, don't forget that the Brew Unit simply needs to be cleaned, as it can build up all sorts of gunky coffee residue inside of it. If the metal upper filter screen is clogged, same story as the above.
