i purchased the bonavita Exceptional brew coffee maker. It came with a packet for cleaning the carafe. I used to just clean my past coffee maker with vinegar and water is that saufficient
Being acidic, vinegar will be able to break down some of the scale and other deposits left in your coffee maker and its carafe. We recommend however that you use a professional cleaning product, something like Urnex Cleancaf for instance. These products have been specifically formulated for cleaning coffee makers and are less likely to damage your machine in any way or impart flavors that would negatively impact the taste of your coffee. I hope this helps!
I see that Trevor asked about gold filters and mjackson said any size four filters would fit, but I purchased a cilio gold plated filter from Amazon that said it would fit #4 coffee filters and it was too tall. Does anyone know of a specific gold filter that actually fits?
This is a tricky question, Since the brewing funnel is made by Melitta, you would need to find one to fit their brand. Melitta uses heavy groving in the brewing funnel, so it does take some extra space up. I have done some research and found the SwissGold KF4 will fit. There isn't much that will fit it, due to the design of the brewing funnel.
Thanks for the response. I also so several revieweres talking about SwissGold on other sites but I can't seem to find the unit for sale within the US. Just the Fireling/Cilio version which appears to look like it's the same size from the pictures on the web and it definitly didn't fit.
I ordered the Cuisinart GTF Gold Tone filter from Amazon based on the reviews of Bonavita there and it seems to fit. Still would prefer to have real gold versus gold tone - just because - but I think this one will do fine unless someone knows where to get the swiss gold within the US and is sure that it works.
Can a permanent filter be used with this coffee maker as well?
Great choice on the coffee maker and you can use a gold tone filter it just needs to be a size four.
