If you like extensively programmable machines with a one touch brewing option, the Saeco Xelsis is for you! The Xelsis has about a hundred and one setting options, including: grind, temperature, water volume, espresso dosage, custom drinks, milk volume, automatic power on time, and more. Sound like a lot? Well multiply all that by seven, because you can put settings in place across seven individual profiles, so it’s great for a household of coffee drinkers or a small office. The display screen is nice and big, and several of the more popular drink options have dedicated buttons right on the front. No digging required. The rest of the options are really easy to get to through the four main navigation buttons. Plus, if you’d like to set up your own profile, you can customize it with an adorable symbol like a leaf or heart. Whenever your profile is selected, your chosen symbol will show in the center of the display in place of the Saeco Symbol. Plus if you mess around but don’t prefer where you end up you can just revert back to the factory settings and start again. There’s an internal bean hopper and water reservoir on either side of the machine, with a bypass doser in between--which is great if a certain profile user has a favorite ground coffee. If you get an alert to empty the used grounds, not to worry! The front panel opens easily with a button on the left side, and the internal drip tray slides right out for easy cleaning. All in all I quite like this machine for ease of use. The display settings are intuitive and easy to navigate, and the level of customizability is crazy high. It took me a second to find the grind settings, but they’re just located in the internal hopper--which makes sense. You have to push the dial down while turning but there’s not a lot of surface area, so it can be a little tough to do. Also the pressure for the milk carafe and espresso is a little intense so it comes shooting out of there pretty fast and might get a little messy. If you like to froth your own milk there’s a wand, so you can really choose exactly how you like it. I did find the milk out of the carafe didn’t get quite as hot as I’m used to, so personally I recommend using the wand-- but as I said in my previous blog, I am a little bit biased. Okay, okay, a lot a bit bias...

FeaturesBack to Top
Grinder, Bean Hopper, and Bypass Doser
The integrated heavy-duty ceramic disc grinder allows for precision grinding. The ceramic discs, or burrs, have the advantage of being more durable than their stainless steel counterparts; you’ll also be able to achieve a finer grind. This remarkably quiet grinder has an automatic shut-off feature and the grind fineness can be easily adjusted by the user. In addition, the Xelsis has a bean hopper, equipped with an airtight-sealed, anti-UV coated lid, to preserve your beans. A bypass doser gives you the option of skipping grinder in favor of pre-ground coffee.
Saeco Brewing System
A dial, located on the front of the machine, allows you to control the Saeco Brewing System. With this unique system, you can select the strength and consistency of your coffee to achieve the desired beverage. The Xelsis is backed by a powerful 1500-watt heating element or robust brewing operations. In addition, this model has double boilers, one for steaming and another for hot water dispensing.
Saeco Aroma System
The Xelsis features the Saeco Aroma System, a programmable pre-infusion cycle that infuses hot water into the coffee to extract the full flavor and aroma of your grounds. You can adjust the Aroma System by turning it on, off, or prolonging the cycle.
Multi-Function & Multi-User Feature
Customize drink volume, strength, or temperature, and other preferences for up to six users with the Multi-Function and Multi-User Feature. The Xelsis will remember every user profile and automatically activate the corresponding settings.
The Saeco Xelsis has an innovative milk management system that features a detachable carafe. The milk container can be removed and stored in the refrigerator for your convenience. Once the milk container is attached to the machine, the Xelsis will steam or froth milk, according the beverage selected, and dispense the milk directly into your cup. An automated rinse cycle helps to keep the machine clean and free of build-up. You also have the option of manually steaming your milk using the steam wand/hot water dispenser.
The illuminated touch-panel is both easy-to-read and intuitive. The controls have one-touch functionality and icon-based displays help guide you through the drink selection process.
Get hot water on demand for hot chocolate, tea, or even oatmeal. The water dispenser also doubles as a steam wand, allowing you to manually steam or froth your milk.
The Xelsis has a removable 54oz water tank with an Intenza water filter. Along with the bean hopper, the water tank is easily accessible from the top of the machine for hassle-free cleaning and refilling.
The Xelsis has a durable, stainless steel frame and a sleek, modern design. The base of the machine has a sliding wheel base for easy rotation.
Cleaning and Maintenance
The brew group is accessible from the front and can be detached for easy rinsing and maintenance. You can remove both the group and grounds container without disturbing the drip tray or milk carafe.
This machine includes a 1 year warranty directly through Saeco and an additional limited 1 Year Extended Warranty from Whole Latte Love. See Extended Warranties.
Does this model have a cup pre warmer?
The Xelsis has a heated cup warmer located between the flip-up water tank and bean hopper It's large enough for 3 or 4 cups.
I've heard the carafes are interchangeble between the Xelsis and Xelsis Evo. Can you tell us the milk froth temperature for the following:
Original Xelsis with original carafe vs.
Original Xelsis with Evo carafe vs.
Xelsis Evo with original carafe vs.
Xelsis Evo with Evo carafe
This information would be appreciated to those of us wondering what how the original Xelsis compares with the Xelsis Evo including if the new carafe is solely responsible for the hotter milk froth as it could also be due to some other hardware/software upgrades.
Both of the Xelsis and the Exprelia non EVO versions would be about 115-120 degrees. However, both EVO versions will get the milk temperature right to 145 degrees right out of the box. If you have any other questions I'd be glad to speak to you directly. I can be reached at 1-888-411-5282 ext 5193. Thank you.
Additionally, the milk carafes ARE NOT interchangeable from the Xelsis to the Xelsis EVO or from the Exprelia to the Exprelia EVO
My Xelsis steam/hot water wand is not working. Just put a new water filter in and now am unable to activate the new filter. Any suggestions?
Is the steam/hot water not working because of the new filter or was it not working before? If the filter is the result, remove filter and prime the wand again. You can soak the filter in water to let it remove any air, then place back on machine.
i.m stuck between the esam 6700 and the Xelsis. all reviews seem to suggest the Xelsis produces better coffee, but looking at the machine i think the build quality is terrible, i also do not like the fact you need to apply grease monthly to the mechanism. I am searching for a long latte over expresso. any comments would be appreciated
I understand that for the price, it seems everything should be automated and hands off. While greasing the tracks on the Xelsis is an extra step that owners need to take to keep the machine running in tip top shape, having the ability to do that maintenance yourself is a big plus for a lot of people. Any machine is going to need basic maintenance through it's life, and the more that the consumer is able to do easily on their own, the cheaper the machine is to own over time. It sure beats having to send a machine to the manufacturer for service!
As far comparing the two machines, they are both exceptional machines with some great features. I really like how the Xelsis looks and how the interface operates. The 6700 has the water reservoir that comes out the front which is a great feature if you are short on space between your counters and cabinets. They both produce excellent drinks too. Two considerations for the Xelsis is that the milk system cleans itself with steam on its own, whereas the 6700 you have to hold a button to do so. Also, the Xelsis has its own steam wand/water wand so if you wanted to venture into frothing your own milk you would be able to easily.
