About Me

Hung up my lab coat permanently after many years and gladly. After already having a love for cappucinos, I worked part-time as a barista for a few years. Now I am barista in my own kitchen and gladly spend my time gardening, cooking, sewing and floral designing. I also tend two our two dogs and the all too necessary household chores we all usually have. Life is good and I have come a long way from my college days....when I way content drinking instant coffee in my dorm. Wow, how times have changed and a cup of my coffee costs a lot more too but it also tastes better!!!

Illy Cafe Espresso - Fine Grind Dark Roast
Illy Cafe Espresso - Fine Grind Dark Roast

I have enjoyed the flavor of the bold Illy Espresso dark roast for about 6 months now. I prefer a dark roast that is not bitter but smooth as this one is. Some of the others I have tried that were highly recommened were more of a medium roast. Being from the souther region of the states I am used...

Aqua Prima Water Filters
Aqua Prima Water Filters

is ther one designed to be used inside the Gaggia Classic water reservoir? I currently use water to fill my water reservoir from the filtered water/icemaker of our refrigerator/freezer. Despite this, we do have hard water and I decalcify regularly. The water quality in our area is not the greatest so every little bit helps the longevity of my equipment.

techkathy Anne,
The aqua prima water filters only fit into Gaggia super-automatic machines. The Gaggia Classic is a semi-automatic. There is not currently a filter that is designed specifically for the Classic model. Just make sure that the water you use has a low mineral content.

I would appreciate your directing me to the right spot. I am familiar already very familiar with the Gaggia Classic and Eric sid the video would be most helpful as I am sure it will be as soon as I watch it. Thanks so much, Anne B.

TechMilanoItalia Anne, we do not currently have a video up that pertains specifically to the Gaggia Baby Twin. If there are any specific questions you have on the operation of the machine, please give us a call and we'd be happy to answer them for you.

Rattleware Rubber Bar Cover
Rattleware Rubber Bar Cover

I looked at knock boxes but was not overwhelmed by any particular one and then I decided on this rubber bar cover. Well, it exactly fit the bill for all I do to dislodge a dry puck is the folllowing:
I rest the rubber bar on the edge of our lined metal garbage can, holding the rubber bar easily...

Stainless Steel Frothing Pitcher
Stainless Steel Frothing Pitcher

I drink cappuccinos and steam milk to 160. Using a 24 oz. pitcher you come dangerously close to overflowing. In addition, while what I desire has been accomplished nmerous times you must also maintain a very steady hand because your foam is definitely on the brink of overflowing!
Although the 32...

Gaggia Pressurized Filter Basket
Gaggia Pressurized Filter Basket

I tried this pressurized filter basket because the double shot Gaggia filter basket was on backorder. Since it was brand new on the market and boasted that it delivered perfect crema without the fuss of worrying about the right grind and/or tamp I thought I'd give it a try.
Well, I gave it...

Urnex Cleancaf Cleaner and Descaler
Urnex Cleancaf Cleaner and Descaler

I have been brewing both espresso and coffee for many years. I am embarassed to say that I used other so-called decalcfying brands to accomplish this task. Well, no more my friend! I am a true believer in CleanCaf by Urnex which I personally prefer over Durgol to use in my Gaggia Classic.
I used...

Bodum Assam Glass Cups
Bodum Assam Glass Cups

I have owned the Pavina and now the Assum glasses to use for pulling shots. I like the idea of the double walled insulation in order to keep the espresso hot. Although I was happy with the Pavina over the conventional type of "bar" type shot glass, I prefer the overall shape of the Assam for its...
