Trying to decide between the virtuoso and the rancilo rocky. There is a big price difference - but I ordered the virtuoso (from somewhere else) and it arrived dead out of the box! I returned it and was so disappointed that I've been trying to look for a different grinder at a similar price point. I haven't seen one yet at a similar price that has as good reviews - and the rocky seems to be the "go-to" for an entry level espresso grinder (I have a gaggia classic). Wondering if I should give the virtuoso another try or go for something else. Any recommendations?
I have been using a Capresso Infinity grinder for a few years and have no real complaints. It is kind of loud and sometimes there is static but the static seems to vary with the beans. I am going to retire the one I have from everyday use and use it for the occasional pot of decaf. I have been looking at the Baratza Virtuso at $229 and was wondering if it is worth the extra $130 it would cost. Thanks, Frank
I have Baratza Virtuoso coffee grinder and I using that grinder two years. Couple days ago grinder stop working. When I push pulse button the motor working but cone burr not rotate. What can be a problem? Thanks
I bought this grinder for use with a Gaggia Baby Twin. We happen to have the Preciso grinder at work. I don't miss having the finer grind control of the Preciso at all and the burrs are the same quality. Its very consistent in its grind. My only concern is I have to adjust this to pretty much...

This is my first real coffee grinder and I am thoroughly impressed with this machine. This first thing to notice is the heavy duty construction, a very solid built machine. As for grinding it grinds very consistently time after time for my espresso machine and my drip coffee maker. I was unsure at...

I'm using a Capresso burr grinder and am tired of the mess from dust and static. I'm only doing drip coffee - what are the advantages of this Baratza unit over the Encore? Thanks!
According to the last troubleshooting question, you can upgrade the burrs to Precisio
I purchased a Baratza Virtuoso Coffee Grinder in September 2010, before that I had a solis burr grinder and something was wearing out and it would keep jamming, and I could not find replacement parts. I could not find a grind setting with the new Virtuoso grinder that would make the coffee taste as good as the solis did. Could it be the precision of the burrs?? Is there a precision burr upgrade kit for the Virtuoso??
Is Baratza replacing the grinders of people who bought these? I bought mine about a year and a half ago and I am down to grinding at level 2 for espresso. I was going mad trying to figure out why I had to keep dropping down. Is there anything I can do to get my grinder working again?
Just to add...I have a Gaggia Pure. However, we are an eclectic family with various "Vesuvius" stovetops, a drip, and a French Press. So, I need a versatile grinder.
mjackson ♦ reva,
I think you will find the Rocky to be a better built more solid grinder. It will work well. I am sorry you have had problems with the Baratza. You may want to gave the Preciso a chance as it will give you more range of grind adjustment. I do know Baratza if it has a problems does a great job of resolving any problems with great customer service.
