Braun Aromatic Coffee Grinder
Braun Aromatic Coffee Grinder

I've had this grinder for almost 10 years and so far I haven't had a problem. They say burr grinders are the best, and maybe they are, but I'm amazed at the type of grind I'm able to achieve, from course to fine powder.

Does this type of burr grinder do well for expresso makers?

Whole Latte Love Staff The Braun Aromatic is not recommended for use with espresso machines. The reason for this is because it simply has a blade that chops the coffee beans up into little, irregular sized pieces - giving you everything from chunks to dust. Espresso machines require a very consistent and fine grind, which unfortunately, this grinder cannot produce. No matter what kind of espresso machine you’re grinding for, I would recommend taking a look at our burr grinders like the Baratza Virtuoso or the Gaggia MDF. These grinders will provide the precise grind you’ll need to get a great espresso. To learn more about grinders in general and the specific models I’ve mentioned here, simply follow the links below.

Does the Braun Aromatic Coffee Grinder have a removable section for the ground beans?

Whole Latte Love Staff Since this is a blade grinder, the same place that you put the beans before you grind is the same place they are ground. Simply open the lid on the top of the grinder and add your beans. When grinding is done, remove the lid again and dump out the grounds.

Does the Braun Aronmatic have a course to fine grind ability?

Whole Latte Love Staff Since the Braun Aromatic is a blade grinder it does not have grind settings. You simply grind for a longer amount of time to create a finer grind.

How many cups of beans can the hopper hold?

Whole Latte Love Staff The "hopper" where you place the beans (which is also where they are ground) holds 2.5 oz of whole beans. Information like this can be found for any of our grinders by following the link below to our Compare-O-Matic.

Bodum Bistro Nouveau Press
Bodum Bistro Nouveau Press

What grinder should I get for a french press like this one? I'm worried that an inexpensive blade grinder will give me a muddy cup because I'll get some small bits. If I need to go with a burr grinder, I'm sure I don't need one of the same quality I'd need for brewing espresso. So what's a good value burr grinder? I want whatever would be adequate for a french press, but not more.

Whole Latte Love Staff You sound like you’re way ahead of the game as far as knowing what type of grinder you should be looking for. You are very correct in saying that an inexpensive blade grinder will give you a muddy cup and that you don’t necessarily need a grinder that will grind fine enough for espresso. If you’ll only be grinding for French press, there are a few grinders I could recommend - the Bodum Antigua, the Capresso Burr Grinder Select, the Gaggia MM, and the Solis Maestro are probably going to be your best bets. You can learn more about these grinders by following the links below, and compare them side-by-side by clicking on the link to our Compare-O-Matic.

This basic grinder not only does a great job on the beans, it's design make it easy for storage. It's tall and narrow and has a wrap around base for the plug. I've used it for years.

Cuisinart DTC-975 Programmable Thermal
Cuisinart DTC-975 Programmable Thermal

We are very interested in the Cuisinart Programmable Therm, but would like to know if additional carafes are available through WLL? Twelve cups is more than enough for everyday use, but we just threw a party and having 2x12 cups of insulated coffee would've been very handy.

If additional carafes are available through WLL, then we'll be placing our order immediately!
