I've got an ECM Giotto around 8 years old. I use Cafiza regularly but have never attempted to descale. It seems to run fine. Local water is not hard and I use Brita filtered water in the machine. Your chart does not show any descaler appropriate for the ECM (now Rocket Brand).
Shoul I descale and with what product? Liz

techkathy Durgol is safe to use on almost all espresso machines. I would recommend getting a couple of packs to descale the Giotto because it has suck a large capacity boiler.

We consigned a favored machine to the garage when the steam system clogged. I thought it was a lost cause, but I had some Durgol around and figured I'd give it a shot. Had to be patient, but eventually all the junk clogging it up came out in a near-explosion, and the machine has been happily...

We have a new Saeco Royal Coffee Bar superautomatic machine. What brand/type of descaler do you recommend for this?

The Durgol Swiss is probably the easiest and most effective for your machine. It has a formula designed for super autos with a lubricant. They all will work any of the descalers as they are all similar in function the liquid ones are probably the easiest to use.

Can I use this product in my Gaggia UNICA? I rather use this instead of the powder. And do I need as well the Urnex Super Auto Cleaning Tabs to clean the brew group as well?

I have a exobar Brutus (first generation), should I be using a descaler? I have often wondered this as I clean the mmachine on a regular basis--I live in the Pacific Northwest (Northwet!) an have extremely soft water/\.
Thanks for being there and for your time!!

mjackson ♦ Howard,

It is a hard machine to descale. You are better off using soft water. It is something you could do but you would do a better job by taking it all apart. Having soft water is the best thing to use. Some people have descaled it and here is a link with a good idea on how to do it. http://www.home-barista.com/tips/descaling-expobar-brewtus-3r-t12047.html

I hope this helps and let us know if you have any questions.

I hope you like your machine and this is a good product to help keep it working well. Be sure to follow the directions and I would descale about every 10-12 weeks. I like this product beacuse it is a liquid and easy to use. Let us know if you have any more questions.

JoaRkim Frank, I have the same machine and am glad I found your post so I don't have to re-ask the same ?. I will be ordering this product ASAP. I don't want to mess up my machine by ignoring the cleaning chore. Also have to look into the water filter.

When I purchased my machine you included a box of Cleancaf cleaner and descaler. I need some more of that but can't find it on the website. Do you still have it?

So I ran two bottles of this through my espresso machine, and now the water seems worse--instead of dripping out, it is shooting out like it is under lots of pressure. Should I do it again? Try another product? What did I do wrong? Ideas?

Michael Rosso ♦ Sheila...It is possible that a piece of scale released from your machine during the descaling process is causing your problems. I would suggest you either try descaling again, or contact our Technical Support Department directly at 1-888-411-5282 option 3 for help. Thanks.
