My Gaggia Brera brews great coffee, but in the past month or two, about 20% o the time after the grinding cycle, the out of beans indicator light turns on and she dumps the unbrewed coffee grounds into the dispenser. I wash the brew group once per week, which includes cleaning the area above the brew group with a dry toothbrush. If I look down the bypass doser hole during grinding, I can't see any obstructions or issues that would cause the machine to dump the unbrewed coffee grounds. Any thoughts?

techkathy Is the coffee you are using a dark roast or oily? Oily coffees tend to stick together and not fall into the grinding burrs. The machine will then act like it is out of coffee.

Love my new Gaggia Brera. It's not clear from the diagram in the manual where to lubricate the brewing group

Has anyone had issues with priming the unit? It seems like the brew group is barely priming, but the steam wand has plenty of water coming through. It usually goes through one priming error before going to Ready State. One additional note, I am cleaning the brew group on a weekly basis and applying food-safe grease, per recommendations :-) I really like this machine and would like to enjoy it more!

It may be doing a normal thing a rinse cycle. You can also go ahead and try a rinse cycle on your own by hitting the by pass doser and then one of the cup sizes to do a rinse. The nice thing is it will also pre-heat your system so your first cup is hotter when you brew a coffee.

I have been contemplating a superautomatic for a couple of years now and (think) have narrowed my choices to the Gaggia Brera and Gaggia Platinum Vogue. I was actually going to pull the trigger and buy the Brera last week when you had it as the Wow of the week, but I was about 2 hour too late.

This would be for home use - only brewing 3-4 shots or drinks per day on average. Any thoughts about what makes one of these better than the other? Any advice is appreciated. I am still leaning towards the Brera...

Michael Rosso ♦ Bret...The Brera would be a better choice over the Vogue for the following reasons. The Brera has two buttons for programing coffee volumes and a bypass doser. Thanks.

I've been looking at the Gaggia Brera and the Gaggia Platinum Vision. Flipping back and forth between the Specs, I'm trying to find the primary differences between the machines. Other than the milk island, water capacity, and temperature controls, what are the major differences between the two?

mjackson ♦ Jeff,

The differences are exactly what you touched on.The only difference you did not mention was the controls. The Brera has really simple controls. The are both good machines I do like the feature of temperature control on the Platinum as a valuable feature.

My Gaggia Synchrony Logic is beginning to leak and in the past, repirs have not always been fast or complete. With the Brera how long is the heat up time...pushing the on button to starting the grind/brew process? In what ways is this a better machine than the synchrony logic?

Zack Smith Tom, The Brera and Vogue are both great machines, and have some similarities. The biggest differences between the two are that the Vogue does not have a bypass doser while the Brera does. Also on the Brera you have a display screen which has back lit icons to inform you on what is happening with the machine. The Brera is a bit smaller and all you water and dredge door is accessible from the front. One unique aspect of the vogue is that you can control the extraction speed. This allows you to fine tune your shot of espresso. If you have any other question please don't hesitate to call.

After getting my Brera my morning routine of getting a latte for my wife and I while getting kids ready for school I have reclaimed at least 10 minutes and made it much more relaxing! Needless to say, I love this machine. Was using a Gaggia Carezza before....

Michael Rosso ♦ Eugene...Here are some difference between the Gaggia Brera and the Gaggia Platinum Vogue. The Brera has a 1300 watt element and the Vogue has a 1500 watt element. The water reservoir for the Brera holds 40 ounces and the Vogue reservoir holds 57 ounces of water. The Brera measurements are H12.4”xW10”x D17.5” and the Vogue measures H14.6”xW12.5”xD16.3. The Brera has two programmable buttons for shot sizes. The Vogue uses a manual control for shot sizes. The Brera has an energy saving feature and a bypass doser which the Vogue does not. Thanks.

I'm having trouble getting the brew group back into my new Gaggia Brera...what am I doing wrong? It seems to stop just shy of being pushed all the way in. Please help because I can't drink coffee if this doesn't work and I'll just die.

Michael Rosso ♦ Trish...Try and gently push the lever (a few times) that unlatches the brew group. Then try to put the brew group back in. If this doesn't work please contact out technical support department at 1-888-411-5282 option 3. Thanks and happy brewing.
