I have had a Magic Deluxe for 4 years. It has been troublefree, although the no-bean indicator never worked....
Now, after descaling, I find that the expressed coffee is wet and it seems to take longer for a cup to make. What could be the problem?

Cleaning the brew unit will most likely cure this problem.  Simply remove the filter screen and the spout that is located on the top of the brew unit.  Be cautious when removing the spout off of the top because there is a spring and checkball that we need to be certain that we do not lose.  Clean the entire brew unit thoroughly and try running a few more shots through the machine to see if this solves the problem.  If not please give us a call at 1-888-411-5282.

My Gaggia semi-automatic espresso machine has a very "violent" start. The first second of the brew process produces a strong vibration and noise - then it eases off and brews as expected. Is this normal?

Whole Latte Love Staff This is normal.  The vibration pump in and of itself is a noisy component.  What is happening is that the pump is dry when we first engage it.  Then once water is fed into the pump, it quiets down.  This noise is typical with this style pump and shouldn’t be cause for concern.

I recently bought a Gaggia. When I froth milk with the wand I always seem to get too much foam. Suggestions?

Whole Latte Love Staff If you feel you are getting too much froth with the Gaggia Turbo Frothing wand, I would recommend purchasing the Saeco Panarello wand.  The Panarello is a little longer and the holes are more toward the bottom of the wand.  This allows you to place the wand deeper into the milk and get more steamed than frothed milk.

I want to buy a f9 capresso, but I'm afraid of the too strong flavor. If I use a mild but good quality columbian bean, will I get a strong expresso flavor? If I adjust it back accordingly, can I get to a drip coffee flavor ,which i am used to?

Whole Latte Love Staff The F9 will not make drip coffee but it will make a wonderful cup of coffee. One you taste it you will probably not want drip again. The strength of the coffee is easy to control. You can control the amount of coffee that the machine will grind and brew along with how much water it will run through the coffee. You have two options on how to brew a full cup of coffee. You can brew a Cafe Crema or an Americano. A Cafe Crema is made when you run a whole cups worth of water through the ground coffee. This can be easily programmed to be done at the push of a button. Or you can make an Americano. An Americano is made by brewing either a single or double shot of espresso into your cup and then adding hot water to dilute it to make a full cup of coffee. For more information on what drinks can be made with this machine please see our drinks recipes article.

Is the brew group made out of metal or plastic?

0

Whole Latte Love Staff All super automatic espresso machines have plastic brew groups. This is primarily due to the moving parts, resistance to the acidity of coffee as ease of cleaning/maintenance. For the record, we rarely have problems where the brew group plastic has failed. More likely we find the motor powering the unit is at fault, but even this is a rare occassion.

What is "crema coffee"? I know what crema is, is crema coffee regular coffee with crema?

Whole Latte Love Staff You are right, crema coffee is a long espresso extraction. Simply run set the volume control for 6 ounces or even more and use your Super Automatic espresso machine as a regular coffee maker - with much better flavor due to the pressure brewed method.
