Today while I was making a coffee in my wonderful Gaggia super-automatic, a nasty "squealing" noise occurred, which I had never heard before. I turned the machine off, pulled out the brew group, cleaned it and everything else I could see. The noise did more or less go away, though there was still a bit of a remnant. I have performed descaling once, when I was instructed to do so, and I try to clean the brew group every so often.

Whole Latte Love Staff This is an issue of lubrication.  The brew unit needs to be lubricated with food edible grease.  This will solve the problem of the squealing brew unit.  You can purchase this product by calling us at 1-888-411-5282 and asking for a tube of Petro Gel grease.

Does this machine grind beans? As we have purchased a Solis grinder, this would be an extra feature we would not want. We are retired 'newbees' so don't have much experience making our own lattes, etc. here at home.

Whole Latte Love Staff The Solis SL90 does not have a built-in grinder and is considered a semi-automatic machine because of this.  If you are looking for a machine that does not have a grinder, you will want to keep looking under the category of semi-automatic machines.  Below, I have provided a link to our buying guide for semi-automatic espresso machines so that you can determine the type of features you may be looking for in a machine.

My steam wand is leaking water (It is not on the FrothExpress) When I use the steam attachment, water bubbles out from between the connection of the two parts on the wand (where it would be in for lattes and out for caps). Is there a replacement part available for this?

Whole Latte Love Staff You may simply need a new o-ring for the connection.  Contact Capresso at 800.767.3554 for help with your parts.

Capressa S9. Just got one and love it, but there is a noticeable buzz coming from it--seems like from the inside and not the little light in the front. It is a contiuous buzz and only goes away when the unit is unplugged. The sound is sort of like the buzz from a bad flourescent light. Any ideas what this is and how I can eliminate it. It is quite loud.

Whole Latte Love Staff This sounds like it may be an electrical issue.  I would certainly call Capresso to see if it is something they can help you solve.  Capresso does all of their own service work and they will be able to give you a quick answer.  Their telephone number is 1-800-767-3554.

1) I would like to know when this model, the Jura Capresso S9, as well as the Jura Capresso S7, first became available on the market.

2) We are considering purchasing either the S7 or S9 and are debating waiting until the next model, assuming new models come out each year. Do you have any advice on this / knowledge of when the next model might come out?

Whole Latte Love Staff The Jura Capresso S7, S8 and S9 are new for 2003. At this time we do not know of any new machine that will be out for 2004.

I have started to notice more and more coffe gounds in the excess water tray. At one time there was even a neet little pile of coffee. Is this normal? I am using a relativley dark roast. Grind is the third smallest available.

Whole Latte Love Staff I would suggest that you run the machine through a cleaning cycle. It is possible that coffee oil residue is building up on the shower screen.  This could cause the ground to be wetter then normal - which in turn, could cause the coffee puck to fall apart before it drops into the dump box.
