Saeco Odea Go II Espresso Machine
Saeco Odea Go II Espresso Machine

I've owned this espresso machine since 2007 and am VERY happy with it. Just recently I've noticed some wear on my machine, the drip tray seems to be losing some of its paint, but overall I've been very happy with this machine. Since buying it in 2007, I've made a latte nearly every day since,...

I have a Saeco Odea Go coffee machine. I use a water filter and descale the machine regularly. The descale warning light was flashing so I descaled the machine (with seaco descaler) but the light continues to flash. I have tried descaling again, switched the machine on and off and run hot water and steam but the light continues to flash. The machine still works.

mjackson ♦ Jill,
I am not exactly sure what is going on. You may have not completed descaling completely. You should call Saeco as they provide all the technical support for that machine. You an reach them at 1-800-933-7876 .

I am having a problem with this machine. When I turn off the steamer and try making another cup of coffee, the water won't stop pouring out of the steamer spicket. Usually this lasts only about 10 seconds, and then the coffee will start grinding/pouring again. But not anymore. Am I doing something wrong?

mjackson ♦ Mani,

It could be a few things. I would try doing my coffee first and then let it heat up to steam temperature. This may help. You may also want to try and run a descaling cycle with cleaner especially through the steam wand. You can do this by using the hot water feature. If this does not help I would try calling the Saeco technical support line. You can reach them at 1-800-933-7876. I hope this helps and thanks for the question.

Hi. The Saeco Odea Giro Plus will accomodate a 7.5 inch tall Starbucks insulated to go cup. The Odea Go will not. Do you know if the Go II is a bit taller like the Giro?

What are the primary differences, if any, between the Saeco Vienna Plus and the Saeco Odea Go II ??

Michael Rosso ♦ Larry...Thank you for your interest in the Saeco Odea Go II. Here are some differences between the two machines. The cup height adjustment for the Odea is done by moving the drip tray up and down. To make a cup height adjustment for the Vienna you need to move the dispensing head up and down.
The Odea grinder has ceramic discs with five adjustable settings and the hopper holds 6 ounces of beans. The Vienna grinder has conical burrs with 18 adjustable settings and the hopper holds 12 ounces of beans.
The Odea does not have a optidose, while the Vienna does. Optidose allows to adjust how much coffee is used (ground).
The Odea water reservoir holds 50 ounces of water and the Vienna water reservoir holds 57 ounces of water.
The Odea discard bin holds 14 extracted espresso pucks. Compared to the Vienna discard bin holds 15 extracted espresso pucks.
The dimensions for the Odea and Vienna are as follows:
(WxDxH) Odea 11.5x15x14.5
(WxDxH) Vienna 15x14x15.5
I hope this information helpful, but if you have any further questions please feel free to contact us at1-888-411-5282 option 1. Happy brewing.

Does this machine use a "perfect crema" device like other Saecos? Why is that necessary? Do shots with "artifical crema" taste the same as shots with real crema?

How long does it take for this machine to heat up from completely cold?

I like my espresso strong so that it stands up to milk. If anyone's using this machine for cappuccinos or lattes, please let me know if you're satisfied with the strength.

TechMilanoItalia David, this is considered a 'super-automatic' machine, so normal rules of espresso brewing tend not to apply. The machine will produce a good shot, and you can adjust the water quantity down low so you can get a shorter shot which will be stronger and more concentrated. The initial heat-up time is quoted at about 3-4 minutes. If you are more concerned with the quality of the espresso and real crema, you may want to consider a semi-automatic espresso machine (found here: http://www.wholelattelove.com/espresso_machine.cfm?cid=1&scid=1 ) paired with a good grinder (found here: http://www.wholelattelove.com/grinder.cfm?scid=34 ). My question isn't about this machine exactly. I was looking for a smaller easy to use expresso machine that I can take with me on vacation. I'm used to the super automatic, but I guess I could use a semi. Please advise and also let me know how long it would take to get to Sacramento California if I order it today.

WholeLatteLoveS S Here is a link to the Handpresso page. It is a non-electric portable espresso machine. All you need is coffee and hot water. It comes in a ground coffee or pod version.

Shipping to CA is about 6 business days.

Tho Nguyen The Handpresso is the most portable espresso maker you can get. The Handpresso Wild works with pods and the DomePod works with ground coffee. Good luck and have fun on your trips!
