1. what specific type of descaler is recommended for this machine?

2. is the default water filter fine or would upgrading to the saeco 'intenza' be recommended?

3. does the grinder ever need to be cleaned or have any product used on it for cleaning/maintenance?

thanks for your help!!

techkathy 1) Durgol is your best bet for descaling.
2) The Intenza filters will not fit in the Saeco Vienna model
3) The grinder would only need to be cleaned if you used a very oily coffee or moisture somehow got into the grinder.

I have had the machine for 5 days and I just love it. I get up in morning, have a double and then just before I leave for work, I make a latte to take with me. I do want to try some other espresso brands of coffee to see which I like best but so far, I love it for ease and...

which is a better option, the saeco vienna plus @$395 or Gaggia New Baby Semi-Auto Gaggia MDF for $460ish total. regarding quality / ease of use / time useage. ive never had a semi or fully auto machine before. thanks!!

A A Brian,
If you are looking for a full auto, then the Vienna Plus is a great entry level machine. It is rock solid and produces quality espresso time after time with no skill needed. It will certainly be the fastest of the two when it comes to making your drinks.

The New Baby will require a grinder, or use of the pressurized portafilter baskets. It is more time consuming, but with the right skills it can produce a better shot than the Vienna can.

I hope this helps!

What is the correct way to descale the Saeco Vienna Plus? Which product do you recommend?

Tracys ♦ I would recommend Urnex cleancaf. For best results mix the cleaning packet in a bowl first. When complete pour the solution in your water tank and fill with cold water. Here is a link to the cleaner http://www.wholelattelove.com/Urnex/cleancaf.cfm

My saeco Vienna was working fine, did6 shots, then when I went back for more it was dead, no lights, off, would not boot up. Yes the outlet works, and yet no go on Vienna! Is there a fuse in the machine? Other issues that might solve this issue? Please advise! Thanks!

I am looking for something similar(steam wand pivots, larger water reservoir, clear molded curved look, stainless steel boiler) but without the grinder. Recommendation?

mjackson ♦ Steve,

Look at the Gaggia Baby Twin or the Saeco Via Venezia in Stainless steel. They are good values and will serve you well.

I noticed another super automatic machine warned NOT to use dark beans, as this would cause the grinder to "jam and fail." I use a french roast. Is this an issue on this machine, or on the Odea Go II? thanks.

Michael Rosso ♦ Sterbajd...Thank you for your post to our Super Wall. You do not want to use an Oily bean with any Super Automatic Espresso machines, because the oil that coats the outside of the beans will stick to and gunk up the burrs over time. Thanks.

Would the Saeco Vienna Plus take coffee grinds or only coffee beans?
Does it have any pre-programming features?
Does it has auto power off for safety and energy savings?
