i.m stuck between the esam 6700 and the Xelsis. all reviews seem to suggest the Xelsis produces better coffee, but looking at the machine i think the build quality is terrible, i also do not like the fact you need to apply grease monthly to the mechanism. I am searching for a long latte over expresso. any comments would be appreciated

I understand that for the price, it seems everything should be automated and hands off. While greasing the tracks on the Xelsis is an extra step that owners need to take to keep the machine running in tip top shape, having the ability to do that maintenance yourself is a big plus for a lot of people. Any machine is going to need basic maintenance through it's life, and the more that the consumer is able to do easily on their own, the cheaper the machine is to own over time. It sure beats having to send a machine to the manufacturer for service!
As far comparing the two machines, they are both exceptional machines with some great features. I really like how the Xelsis looks and how the interface operates. The 6700 has the water reservoir that comes out the front which is a great feature if you are short on space between your counters and cabinets. They both produce excellent drinks too. Two considerations for the Xelsis is that the milk system cleans itself with steam on its own, whereas the 6700 you have to hold a button to do so. Also, the Xelsis has its own steam wand/water wand so if you wanted to venture into frothing your own milk you would be able to easily.
I have the Gaggia Academia and LOVE most of everything about it, especially the very HOT coffee. My biggest complaint is the size of the internal drip tray...I'm forced to dump it every three/four cappuccinos. Do either the Xelsis or Exprelia offer a larger internal container? Is the coffee as hot as the Academia? If so, I may look at a swap. Thanks.

First, the Gaggia Accademia, Saeco Xelsis, and Saeco Exprelia utilize the same interior drip tray and dreg drawer--You would see no difference between this part of either machine. With regard to the drip tray filling up fairly quickly, one common cause of this is routine use scattered throughout the day. When the machine is switched on or off (whether automatically or manually), it will run through a rinse cycle that runs a few ounces of water through the brew unit and spouts, straight into the drip tray. Similarly, the machine also purges the steam circuit after frothing drinks to ensure that no residual milk is left behind. In any case, these are both excellent maintenance features, but they can be switched off as needed--Just be certain to run the manual rinsing process every so often! Don't hesitate to give Technical Support a call to walk you through changing the factory rinse settings.
I am shopping for a super autho expresso machine. What would you say the biggest difference is between the Gaggia Academia and the Jura-Capresso Impressa Z7 ?

Good question. Here is what I think. Accademia - has a great steam wand, Jura does not. Academia will make a better espresso. It also has a a better milk system that cleans itself after you make a drink and then you can put the milk container back in fridge. It also has a removable brew group you can clean. The Jura will make a stronger coffee with one push as it doses more per serving. I do like the Gaggia.
Is this pricing for a new or refurbished?Also is the only difference between the 2 xelsis the fingerprint thing?

This is a good machine and a lot of fun to own. It is priced as a new machine and it makes a great espresso. The only difference is yes the fingerprint feature. I hope this helps and thanks for the questions.

How hot will the Saeco X heat the milk? any desired temperature or does it have a limit?

It does not have a temperature control so that you can set it for a desired temperature. It does a pretty good job, but it will certainly not be to hot. Our tests have shown it will get the milk to right around 130 degrees.
Michael Rosso ♦ Philippe...You should descale even if you are using distilled water. Distilled water will have some(although less than tap water)minerals and sediment which will cause some buildup in your machine. Do you recommend the Saeco Xelsis as one of the best Super Automatic machines? I was looking at the DeLongi and Jura, but now I see this one.... it looks awesome! Is there plastic on it or is it metal? Can you froth your own milk or use the auto frother? If I order it, does it come with any free items? Looking forward to your reply.....

TechMilanoItalia Yes, we would definitely recommend this machine as a top-of-the-line superautomatic. It does have a stainless steel outer housing. You can either use the frothing wand on the front of the machine or the auto-frother system.
