Walid Abu-Ghazaleh can I use this for my gaggia brera
2:26 PM 4-28-12
Michael Rosso Walid Abu-Ghazaleh...Thank you for the great question you posted on our Super Wall. Urnex Cleancaf would be a great choice for descaling the Gaggia Brera or any another espresso machine (prosumer machines excluded. Thanks.

Sam Alvis For my Gaggia Platnium Vision Plus do I need to use both the Cleancaf and the Cafiza cleaner tablets?
5:15 PM 4-6-12
Michael Rosso Sam...Thank you for your question. You will want to use the Urnex Cleancaf for desacling your Gaggia Platnium Vision. Urnex Cafiza is for backflushing Semi Automatic espresso machines. Thanks.

Marie Eidam Can I use this instead of the tablets to clean my Jura Impressa Z5 machine?
8:07 AM 12-19-11
Mark Jackson Marie, Unfortunately you cant. The product you selected is for descaling a machine. The Jura tablets have been designed and are properly sized for you Jura. It is a specific product and it is really what you should use. It does a great job and will keep your machine running great.

Victoria Cantwell Is this the appropriate stuff to use on my gaggia classic? just bought the machine and want to take good care of it. Thanks
10:11 PM 11-21-11
Mark Jackson Victoris, It is the correct product to use. You can also use Dezcal or Durgol as cleaning solutions as well.

James Lewis I see this is the cleaner recommended for Gaggia machines (I have a very reliable Gaggia Coffee). I just bought some cleaner for automatic drip coffee makers by Whink. Is Cleancaf especially formulated to work best in my machine, or will the Whink cleaner suffice? Is there a chance that a "drip" cleaner will harm an espresso maker?
6:55 PM 4-23-11
Mark Jackson James, I am not sure about Whink. I do know that Cleancaf will work and is formulated to not harm your machine. It is citric acid based. I would make sure the other one is before using it. I cant recommend the other, because I don't know enough about it.

Susan Lee What is the best descaler to use on my Saeco Odeo Giro?
7:34 AM 3-30-11
Mark Jackson Susan, The Cleancaf will work well and is certainly cost effective. You may also want to consider the Durgol as it is a liquid and is very easy to use. The Cleancaf is a powder and you need to be sure to dissolve it completely for it to work and it be effective.

Rebecca Casagrande Do these work in the place of the Jura descaling tablets for the Jura S9 superautomatic? If so, how many tablets does it use in one descaling treatment? I'm trying to compare apples to apples. Thanks very much.
3:21 PM 1-17-11
Michael Rosso Rebecca...The Jura cleaning tablets have been designed specifically by Jura for use in their machines. I do not know how well cleancaf will work in their machines. Thanks

Trevor C Booker I have a Jura ENA4 and it says to use only the JURA decalcifying tablets to avoid damage to the machine. I have several boxes of the Urnex Cleancaf left over from the machine I replaced, can I use it without fear or do I just need to throw it away?
2:56 PM 1-2-11
Michael Rosso Trevor... Jura has designed their own cleaning and descaling tablets just for their machines. I am not sure how well Cleancaf would work with their espresso machines. Thanks

CLIFFORD LARSON CAN THIS BE USED TO DESCALE A JURA SUPER ESPRESSO MACHINE?
8:11 PM 12-28-10
Michael Rosso Clifford...I would not recommend using the Urnex Cleancaf to descale your machine. Jura has designed their own descaling tablets (Jura Descaling tablets) to use in descaling process for their machines. Thanks

John Harris I"ve had my Gaggia Baby (from Whole Latte Love) since Christmas 2008. My steamer/frother screatches VERY loudly. It did not when new. I've used the Cleancaf but it still screatches. Advice?
11:29 AM 12-15-10
Michael Rosso John...You should take your steam wand apart and make sure all the openings are clean and not blocked. I would also make sure that the tube where the steam wand attaches is not blocked. If that doesn't help please contact our technical support department at 1-888-411-5282 option 3. Happy brewing.

Urnex Grindz: No More Oil!

At some point in our espresso and coffee grinder buying adventures, all of us have been forewarned to avoid using oily beans in our newly purchased grinders. The first question you may ask is, "How do I know if the beans I'm using are oily?"

While there technically isn't a universal scientific answer to this question, one might determine how oily a bean is simply by looking at the sheen on the beans surface. If the bean has an extremely shiny appearance, you can assume it is oily. While many espresso beans will have a glossy appearance to them, you were likely advised to avoid the extremely oily offenders—for example, one of Starbucks' dark roasts. Next time you are in a Starbucks, have a look and you will see that they are practically dripping with oil.

"But, I enjoy Starbucks," you might say. Not to fear, here enters Urnex Grindz.

Urnex Grindz is an all-natural and food-safe grinder cleaner comprised of grains, cereals and binders that are in the shape of a coffee bean. This product is great for removing oil residue and odors that are left on the burrs. As a regular course of maintenance, I use a packet of Grindz once a month; but if you are using a more oily variety of bean, like a Starbucks or Peets, it should be used on a weekly basis.

Urnex GrindzAll you have to do is run your grinder until it is empty of beans then add a packet of Urnex Grindz and activate the grind cycle. A medium grind setting works best when using this product. Once the Grindz have been ground, purge the excess product by adding a couple scoops of sacrificial coffee beans to the hopper and grinding them through.

Urnex Grindz works by soaking up the oil and flavor residue as it's being ground through your grinder. Not only does this prevent flavor transfer, if you're switching between flavored and unflavored coffee, using Grindz on a regular basis can actually prolong the lifespan of your machine. So, don't shy away from a dark roast; use Urnex Grindz and fear the oily beans no more.

I have been brewing both espresso and coffee for many years. I am embarassed to say that I used other so-called decalcfying brands to accomplish this task. Well, no more my friend! I am a true believer in CleanCaf by Urnex which I personally prefer over Durgol to use in my Gaggia Classic. I used Urnex when I worked part-time as a barista for a four years and if you are going to do a job, use a product that is going to deliver top quality results. It is going to take you the same amount of time to decalcfy using XXX XX vs.CleanCaf , the results are going to be 50% improved at the very, very least probably more! I was so impressed the first time I tried it as compared to what I had used in the past I bought more, especially when it's on sale too!

This worked so well I still can't believe it. I hadnt descaled in five years to the horror of the Wholelattelove person I spoke with but she suggested i try this anyway since I was getting nothing from the group head and water out of the steam wand. So, after two days of cleansing with this Urnex the machine works better than it did even when it was new five years ago. Still in awe!

My machine was incredibly clogged. The manufacturer only offered putting some white vinegar in to clean it and that worked for a while but finally the machine became fully clogged. I was about to buy another when I decided to do some research. I stumbled on this amazing product and ordered a three pack to try it out. My machine is like new. It took two packets to clean the machine out but as I say it was in terrible shape. I am now going to order a supply to be able to clean my machine regularly so this never happens again. Thanks Cleancaf, this coffee lover is indebted to you.
