Profitec Pro 300 Overview
Profitec knows how to impress us. At first sight, the Pro 300 makes a lasting impression with its polished stainless steel exterior. The front panel of the machine sports a steam pressure gauge and Gicar PID controller, which lets us monitor steam pressure and temperature at a glance. The PID reigns in temperature stability to within a degree of the set temperature, and features a convenient shot timer for more precise pulls. The Fast Heat Up means the Pro 300 reaches stable brew temperatures as quickly as possible.
Features and Performance
Right off the bat we're looking at a machine that's easy to use and it's pulling the shots we're out to get. That's a good start.
We like to look a little deeper, so we ran the Pro 300 through testing. Our technicians found remarkably quick warm up times of about 10 minutes, from power-on to brew-ready. We owe this to the brew boiler mounted directly above the brew group, which is passively heated as the machine warms up. If you want, you can switch off the steam boiler to save energy. On that note, steam performance is respectable and the two hole steam tip is perfect for high speed frothing, dispensing high pressure over a wide area.
The all copper and braided stainless steel high-pressure lines on the inside of the machine are a nice touch, as well, owing to Profitec's thoroughly professional engineering. Plus, the vibration pump sits on rubber mounts so the machine stays quiet while brewing.
The Fast Heat Up is a unique heating cycle that overheats the boiler so that it reaches brew temperatures even faster, just 8.5 minutes after switching it on. After a cooling flush, the super-hot water brings the group head and portafilter to temperature which helps to achieve optimal temperature stability.
Why You Should Get It
Overall, if you're looking for a dual-boiler espresso machine and you need value, the Profitec Pro 300 is where you should be looking. It heats up quickly, and it's one of the most powerful espresso machines available for the price.
