Milk Carafe Issues

If the carafe is not frothing properly, most of the time it will have to do with the carafe itself. The steaming is based on time rather than sensing the temperature. If you're having trouble getting froth or the proper temperature there is likely either a blockage or broken connection somewhere inside of the carafe. If the frothing results are consistent, just a lower temperature than you were hoping for, the carafe is probably just fine. The best thing to do to address any temperature or frothing issues is take the carafe apart for cleaning and inspect the parts for anything out of place or damaged.

We have found that the majority of issues at the carafe are due to some key positions being blocked, so if you are getting steam to the carafe and there is nothing visibly broken, this video will help you resolve the issue. There are different versions of the carafe you may have whether it’s the original chrome version or the updated pre 2022 Accademia replacement version or the Babila replacement version as the chrome version is no longer in production for either machine. If the two opaque tubes from your carafe connection point are clogged or seem damaged, that may be an issue as well. Running the automated carafe cleaning cycle with Urnex Rinza Milk Frother Cleaner 32 oz and descaling the machine can also help make sure that the connection point is getting the appropriate amount of steam to your carafe in order for the carafe to operate properly. If you are getting steam to the carafe, but cleaning hasn't improved the results, the carafe will need to be replaced.
