Gaggia Velasca: Screen Replacement
In this article, you'll learn how to replace the screen on your Gaggia Velasca or Velasca Prestige espresso machine. We'll guide you through safely removing the housing, accessing the screen, replacing it, and reassembling your machine.
Notice
Before replacing the screen please verify the screen settings do not need to be adjusted or reset. Use this video to navigate your menu options, and either adjust the contrast setting or perform a hard reset on your machine. T10 Torx screwdriver (preferably magnetic tip)

Small flathead screwdriver (optional but helpful)

Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Machine

Unplug the machine for safety and to facilitate housing removal.
Step 2: Remove the Housing
-
Open the bean hopper and remove the three shiny screws inside.

Lift and remove the hopper and lid.
-
Remove four black screws located on the top and back of the machine.
-
Remove the drip tray, accessories, and locate the hidden screws:
-
One stainless steel screw behind the drip tray.
-
One black screw behind the removable panel on the right side.
-
-
Remove the removable panel by pulling it straight outward.
-
Open the front door and gently lift upward to remove it.
-
Carefully swing the back housing panel outward from the left side to avoid the hinge mount, then set it aside.
Step 3: Remove the Front Panel

Regular Velasca:
-
Remove the two black T10 screws from each side of the front panel.
-
Remove the two screws securing the steam arm bracket (one screw is slightly hidden and may require needle-nose pliers).
-
Gently pull out and lift the steam arm bracket out of the way.
-
Carefully remove the panarello wand by sliding it off.
-
Pry out the front panel gently from both sides until it pops loose.

Velasca Prestige:
-
Remove the two black T10 screws on each side of the front panel.
-
Remove one hidden screw located behind the side panel.
-
Carefully remove the side panel by pulling outward and then sliding horizontally.
-
Pry gently on one side of the front panel to remove it from the machine.

Step 4: Remove and Replace the Screen

Locate the two black clips securing the screen assembly. Carefully release these clips using a flathead screwdriver or your fingernails.

Unplug the screen connector cable by gently wiggling it off.
-
Remove the three screws securing the silver trim piece and remove the trim.
-
Remove the black plastic piece beneath it.
-
Remove the two screws holding the screen itself.
-
Carefully flip the screen over, disconnecting the two cables:

The simple plug connector.
-
The ribbon cable (release by flipping up the tiny black latch).
-

Insert the ribbon cable from your new screen into the connector, locking it by flipping down the latch.

Plug in the simple connector cable.
-
Re-secure the new screen with the two screws.
-
Replace the black and silver trim pieces, securing them with their screws.

Carefully reconnect the screen's connector cable, routing it neatly.
Note:
Be cautious handling the ribbon cable to avoid damage. Verify it's correctly seated and locked before proceeding.
Step 5: Reassemble the Front Panel

Regular Velasca:
-
Reinstall the front panel, aligning it carefully.
-
Replace the steam arm bracket and secure it with screws.
-
Reattach the panarello wand.
-

Velasca Prestige:
-
Snap the front panel back into place.
-
Replace the side panel by aligning its clips and sliding into position.
-
Secure the side panel with the hidden screw.

Step 6: Replace the Housing
-
Align the back panel carefully and snap it into place, starting with the left side near the hinge mount.

Secure with screws:
-
Two on the back top.
-
Stainless steel screw behind the drip tray.
-
Black screw on the opposite side.
-

Reattach the door by aligning the hinges and pushing it downward.
-
Replace the side panel on the right side and secure it with screws.
-
Replace the top panel by sliding it securely into position.
-
Reinstall the bean hopper, ensuring the sensor is correctly seated.
-
Secure the hopper with the three stainless steel screws.
-
Replace all accessories and the drip tray.
Notice:
When tightening screws, stop once resistance is felt to avoid stripping plastic threads.
