Owning the Expobar Brewtus IV-R
The Expobar Brewtus IV-R is a dual-boiler machine that’s quick to heat up to brew temp and stay stable shot after shot, just the way we like it. Its near-silent rotary pump is designed exclusively for direct-plumb use, making reservoirs obsolete. According to our tests, it’s ready to brew after a short fifteen minutes, or, with the optional steam boiler shut off switch engaged, a mere ten. The PID dampens temperature fluctuations in the brew boiler to the greatest possible degree, while Expobar’s redesigned E61 group syphons hot water through the brew circuit to further ensure temperature stability, while also introducing a pre-infusion chamber, which ensures the grounds are soaked at a low pressure prior to brewing to enable a fuller extraction. Unlike the vibration pump Brewtus models, the rotary pump version eschews the reservoir altogether, opting instead for exclusively plumbed operation. We recommend installing a BWT water filtration system inline to remove scale build up, and improve coffee taste and machine longevity. Internally, Expobar utilizes premium-level components, which are configured in such a way that any future maintenance is hassle-free as can be.
We must admit, we’re rather partial toward the Brewtus models, as we were instrumental in the machines’ development back in the mid-2000s. We’ve found that the Brewtus IV-R is highly efficient, making it just as at home on an entertainer’s countertop as it is in light-duty commercial space. It’s not as pretty as some of its peers, but the Brewtus is interested in performance, not appearance, and it undercuts the competition on price, too. The Brewtus IV-R is ideal for the serious espresso lover who favors results over aesthetics. Other versions include the standard Brewtus IV which features a vibration pump and reservoir; and the Brewtus IV-P, which also features a vibration pump, while offering reservoir or plumbled functionality.
The independent, insulated copper boilers provide stable temperatures and allow you to brew and steam at the same time, which is invaluable for everyone who likes making speciality drinks or for entertaining guests. Optionally, either boiler can be switched off for energy-saving
Redesigned E-61 Group Head
A standard E-61 group constantly syphons water from the boiler to the group and back, but Expobar raised the bar by adding a pre-infusion chamber. This innovative addition evenly distributes hot water over the grounds for a uniform saturation during pre-infusion and throughout the brewing process.
Direct Water Line Connection
The Brewtus IV-R utilizes plumbed operation exclusively. If necessary, the Brewtus IV-R can brew with its water line dipped into a container, but we recommend plumbing it in promptly. Use a BWT filtration system inline to improve coffee taste and machine longevity.
Lifting the brew lever halfway will activate the Brewtus IV-R’s unique pre-infusion feature. The machine will carefully moisten coffee grounds prior to extraction so that you can get the most flavor and aroma out of your coffee.
