Have you changed coffee recently? Are you using an oily bean? I would suggest first cleaning and calibrating the grinder-see the link here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N0aApA_Lw9I for a video on the process. The machine does go into standby mode, which should have no real effect on the rate of flow through the machine. You can also run a few bypass shots with no coffee (press the spoon button, place a cup under the spouts, and press the medium or large coffee button) to flush the spouts and make sure they are clear.
