Personally, I'd go with the classic for a few reasons. It has a long running reputation of being a very solid machine that is also pretty easy to fix if you did have an issue. There are plenty of resources online and parts are readily available. It has a proven track record of being plenty of machine for most and up-gradable for others. Additionally, the classic has a commercial style portafilter (58mm), which is a huge advantage in my book. The Breville has many ooos-and-aaahhs that grab a newbie's attention right away, but if you do some research (especially on various espresso/coffee forums) you will quickly find that the classic shines where it counts.
