The JURA WE8 is an upgrade to the E8 in terms of capacity and performance. The smallest offering in their Professional line, the JURA WE8 is a super-automatic espresso machine capable of brewing espresso, ristretto and long coffee, and steaming for a cappuccino, latte macchiato or flat white. We really enjoy flat whites here at the office, so we were pleasantly surprised to find them as a pre-programmed option. Plus, stand alone milk foam and hot water options can be programmed to produce a desired amount of water or frothed milk for making cocoas or tea lattes.
Out of the box, the WE8 impresses with its mirror-finish accents and considerable capacities. JURA’s Aroma G3 grinder is a nice addition in this case, making for quiet, consistent grinding with higher efficiency. For a more full-bodied espresso and decidedly thicker crema, the WE8 uses the JURA’s Pulse Extraction Process, to fire pulses of water through your grounds to get the most out of extraction.
JURA’s Fine Foam Frother allows you to adjust milk density with a quick twist of a dial before, or during, brewing. For us at the office, this is critical and makes the difference between a latte macchiato and a cappuccino incredibly clear.
The WE8 is also incredibly easy to use; cycle through options on the color LCD display with the intuitive dial, and select a drink to personalize or brew. The WE8 is as simple to keep clean as it is to brew with, especially with the Clearyl Smart water filter installed in the 2.9 L reservoir to ensure great tasting coffee and reduce the need for descaling.
As on all JURA machines, the cleaning cycles are completely automated, and a warning pops up on the screen to let you know it’s time for a little maintenance. All you have to do is add the designated cleaner and press start and the WE8 cleans its own brew group, milk system or descales the boiler system. As a reminder, the max recommended output is 30 drinks per day. For larger capacity home and office machines, take a look at the GIGA series.
The Variable Brewing Unit lets you prepare your drinks with anywhere from 5-16 grams of coffee, and JURA’s Intelligent Pre-Brew Aroma System pre-infuses those grounds before brewing to ensure the best possible extraction. You can also make adjustments to the coffee temperature and volume for each individual drink.
The WE8 employs JURA’s innovative Pulse Extraction Process brewing system. As opposed to a constant flow, water is instead pulsed through the grounds in short intervals that extract greater intensity and aroma while shortening the overall brew time. With P.E.P., espresso and ristretto can be prepared with greater clarity and flavor than ever before.
JURA's Intelligent Water System makes use of RFID technology to automatically detect when the WE8 has been fitted with a filter. The CLEARYL Smart / Pro Smart water filter protects against limescale, chlorine, and heavy metals in your water to preserve the flavor of your coffee and extend the WE8’s lifespan.
JURA's Aroma G3 grinder ensures quiet, even, and super fast grinding. The grinder can be adjusted to one of seven fineness settings to affect the overall extraction time, and features a refined burr set with cutting angles that have been perfected for more even grinding and higher efficiency. An integrated bypass doser allows for pre-ground coffee brewing, too.
