Thanks to a patented solution, Durgol Swiss Espresso Descaler not only cleans and decalcifies, it also lubricates and protects your brewing components to extend the life of your machine. Available in packs of two 4.2oz bottles, Durgol Swiss Espresso Decalcifier is a safe, quick, and easy way to remove build-up such as mineral and calcium deposits from hard water in your espresso machine. Howard Frank I have a exobar Brutus (first generation), should I be using a descaler? I have often wondered this as I clean the mmachine on a regular basis--I live in the Pacific Northwest (Northwet!) an have extremely soft water/\. Thanks for being there and for your time!! Howard

Mark Jackson Howard, It is a hard machine to descale. You are better off using soft water. It is something you could do but you would do a better job by taking it all apart. Having soft water is the best thing to use. Some people have descaled it and here is a link with a good idea on how to do it. http://www.home-barista.com/tips/descaling-expobar-brewtus-3r-t12047.html I hope this helps and let us know if you have any questions.

Mark Jackson Frank, I hope you like your machine and this is a good product to help keep it working well. Be sure to follow the directions and I would descale about every 10-12 weeks. I like this product beacuse it is a liquid and easy to use. Let us know if you have any more questions.

Shaun Walsh Hello Can I use the above product on the Gaggia Brera machine? My light is on, and the book says to use only the Gaggia descaler. Thanks in advance, Shaun

Mark Jackson Yes Durgol is a product you can use. It works well and make sure to follow the directions on the bottle as well as in your manual.

Richard Gilson Is this product suitable for descaling the Gaggia Classic espresso machine?
2:07 PM 3-25-11
Zack Smith Richard, Durgol would work to descale your Gaggia Classic machine. You should be descaling every couple of months depending on how hard your water is.

George Papagiannis I purchased this product intending to use it to de-scale my Expobar Office Lever machine. I was provided instructions on how to the scale a heat exchanger machine. However, I have also heard that this should not be done and that the machine should be returned to your company for descaling. I am now confused. If I were to follow the instructions provided regarding descaling a heat exchanger machine, what is the worst-case scenario that could occur?could I damage this machine? Or, would it be simply the inability to remove entirely the solution from the boiler? If so, could whatever problem that occurred be remedied by returning the machine without great cost? Thank you for whatever information you may provide. George Papagiannis

Michael Rosso George...Please tell me where did you get the instructions for descaling, and how do they suggest to descale your Expobar? Yes you can always ship your Expobar back to us for descaling or and other service work. Thank.

Nicole Smith I have a Gaggia Brera superautomatic. It's now telling me it's time to descale. I have one packet of Cleancaf left to use, and I was going to use more, but I don't see it on your site. Is this Durgol Swiss Espresso Descaler suitable? If so, how long does each bottle last? Do you still sell Cleancaf? Or, is there something better for a superautomatic?
9:08 AM 3-8-11
Michael Rosso Nicloe...The Urnex Cleancaf can be found on our website by clicking on Parts/Care and then cleaning. Thanks.

Susan Tiemann Would this be a good product for my Saeco vienna model?
10:41 AM 12-22-10
Mike R Yes, the Durgol would work good in the Vienna. Being pre-diluted it will be a bit easier to use. The other descaler we recommend for normal use is Urnex Cleancaf. For a stronger use, Urnex's Dezcal is a great descaler as well.

George Papagiannis Can this be used with an Expobar machine?
2:43 PM 12-13-10
Mark Jackson George you can and here are some instructions. How to descale a heat exchanger machine. 1. Turn the machine on and let it heat up like you normally would. 2. When it has heated up, turn off the machine and open the hot water knob and drain the boiler until it stops. 3. Mix up a solution of warm water and the citric acids based descaler and pour it into the reservoir. 4. Turn on the machine; the pump will turn on to fill the boiler. After the boiler is full and the pump has turned off turn on the brew switch and run a cup of water through the brew group. 5. Let the machine sit while hot for 5 minutes. . 6. Turn on the brew switch and run the rest of the descaling solution through the brew group 7. Turn off the machine and open the hot water knob and drain the boiler. 8. Clean the reservoir and fill with fresh cold water then turn the machine back on and let the boiler fill with fresh water and heat up. 9 Run two cups of water through the brew group. 10. Turn off the machine and open the hot water knob to drain the boiler one last time. 11. Fill the reservoir and turn the machine on, let the boiler fill and you are ready to go. This should help and let us know if you need any help.

Stephen Kowalski I have a Gaggia Super Automatic. I amhaving to use 1 bottle about every 5 to 7 days depending on the usage. My machine is about 4 years old. My water is well water. I can hear this working when it is decalsifying. Is this usage of this clearning normal? While I have not had my well water tested in years, do you suggest going to a bottle water to see if it will not clog up so easily?
11:16 AM 11-26-10
Mark Jackson Stephen, Yes this much cleaning is unusual. You should be cleaning perhaps every 4-6 weeks. The key is using as soft of water as possible. Some bottle water may be and soft it would help to find one that is softened. With some bottled water it is spring/mineral which means the water might have minerals in it. So that may not be a good thing for your machine.
