Questions

jaywoz asked:

Should i use these for my Gaggia Brera?

thanks

Answer by Sanfam:

These tablets would be used for cleaning the brew group.  You would insert one tab into the bypass doser chute on the top of the machine and direct the machine to brew a "blank shot" by selecting the Preground Coffee option (press the bean button until the scoop icon appears) and then brewing a large coffee.

TJ asked:

I received these tablets with my Accademia machine.  On page 36 of the manual, it mentions adding a cleain packet to the milk carafe for the milk circuit cleaning.  Am I supposed to use these tablets or is there something else I need to purchase for this?

Answer by Sanfam:

These tablets are for brew unit cleaning only.  While they may slowly dissolve in the milk carafe, the detegents in these will not work to remove dried accumulatons of milk proteins.  In place of the powder, I would recommend Urnex Rinza (http://www.wholelattelove.com/products/urnex-rinza-milk-frother-cleaner), available in small bottles for occaisonal use, or in 32oz self-dosing bottles for long-term maintenance.  Rinza is purpose-made for cleaning milk frothing systems.

Sandy asked:

How do I clean the grinder of my Gaggia Platinum Vision machine?

Answer by techkathy:

The Gaggia Platinum Vision does not have a user serviceable grinder. The best thing to do is get a really dry coffee bean and run it through the grinder on a coarse setting. It will help clean out any deposited oils or old coffee in the grinder.

Keith asked:

Is this product used with the Gaggia Classic? How is it different than the Gaggia Decalcifier solution?

Answer by techkathy:

The cleaning tablets are meant to be used in a super automatic machine with an automatic cleaning cycle. The Gaggia Classic is a semi automatic machine and does not have any automated cleaning cycles.

Jeff asked:

Can someone please clarify in detail the purpose of this product and how it is used? Is it in addition to descaling and done separately? Do not cut and paste what is already in the vague features text. I already read that. Thanks.

Answer by A:

Jeff,

These tablets are designed to supplement the descaling of your machine. If you maintain a good schedule with descaling, you actually shouldn't need these.

Brian asked:

The maintenance section in the manual for my Gaggia Platinum Swing unit says to insert a tablet into the pre-ground coffee door to clean the Brew Unit. This is in addition to the descaling section in the manual. Can you verify that these are the tablets we're supposed to use?

Answer by Tracys:

Yes, The Gaggia Coffee clean tablets remove calcium deposits, coffee oils and other debris without fuss, and they are nontoxic and biodegradable! These tablets work with your super-automatic espresso machine and will help restore that wonderful clean fresh taste to your coffee brewing.
