The Rancilio Epoca ST1 features a large brass boiler, brass water lines, brass fittings and connections and brass chrome-plated porta filters that all combine for great brew-water temperature stabilization.
Solenoid valve - The Rancilio Epoca ST1 features a commercial quality three-way solenoid valve. This valve relieves the machine of water pressure, allowing you to brew again almost immediately. A three-way solenoid valve also removes more water from the spent coffee puck – making it easier to empty the portafilter.
Water Filter - Clean water is essential for making great espresso and Rancilio includes an in-tank water filter for providing water as clean as possible for brewing and dispensing. It also helps to inhibit scale build-up. The plastic 2 liter water reservoir is accessed through a trap-door on the top rear of the cup-warming tray and can be filled by pouring directly into the reservoir.
Body Beautiful - The shape, fit and finish of the Rancilio Epoca ST1 body shell is extraordinary for any type of machine. It reflects superb Italian style and craftsmanship and is rust-proof, scratch-proof and wear resistant to provide years of service and constant great looks.
Hot Water Dispenser - In addition to steaming and frothing, the Rancilio Epoca ST1 includes a separate spout and control knob for dispensing hot water for tea, hot chocolate or café Americanos. Just turn the knob above the hot-water spout and hot water is poured into your waiting cup.
Boiler Pressure Gauge - You will know when your machine is ready by observing the visible gauge on the front which displays the boiler pressure. There are also 2 indicator lamps near the on-off switch, one indicates that there is sufficient water in the reservoir to operate and the other indicates a low water condition.
The Rancilio ST-1 comes with a full kit of components and accessories

it would be really great if I could avoid slopping the dregs onto the floor when carrying the drip tray across the kitchen to the sink. Is there an adapter to allow connection of the drip tray directly to a drain line?
The Rancilio Epoca ST 1 does not support a drain line; This is one of the concessions made to allow for a more compact design. Other models in the Epoca selectively offer support for this, but typically feature taller legs in order for allow a drain collector and line to fit.
i hvae the Rancilio Epoca and would like to convert it so that the water comes from a line rather than having to fill it. is tjere a conversion kit for this?
Thank you for your question. We do not offer a conversion kit for this machine unfortunately, and I am not sure if there is one available, because this machine is not normally meant to be plumbed in. I suggest contacting Rancilio directly to see if they have a kit available, or if plumbing the unit is a possibility. Rancilio can be contacted at 630-427-1703.
Well, our machine has worked fine since it first arrived. Now, last couple of days it have been loosing pressure suddenly and everything seems right but the fact it get loose that often is starting to scare us all. There is enough water at the tank, it is normally plugged and it gets rinsed often. What can be happening? Because there is no weird noise coming ot of it. After we run some water from the group head the pressure starts to build up until it falls once again, and keeps doing it
As I'm not quite sure if I fully understand the problem, please correct me if I'm off-target on anything written below.
Under typical operating conditions, it is perfectly normal for the steam pressure gauge on a machine of this design to rise and fall in a regular pattern. This occurs as a direct result of the boiler being heated up to the point where the steam pressure flips the pressurestat off (which operates like a thermostat in a sense for the water in the boiler) and then cooling back down to the point where the steam pressure drops low enough to switch the pressurestat on again. The speed at which this occurs will vary from one machine to another. Additionally, heat exchanger machines heat their brewing circuit's water by pulling heat from the water that is steaming--As the machine pushes cool or cold water through the boiler to be heated, it will see a drop in temperature and a matched drop in steam pressure, to the point where the machine may start re-heating the boiler (and rebuilding pressure).
Basically, It's nothing to worry about under normal circumstances! I hope this helps.
