I've had a refurbished Accademia for a couple of months, and love the convenience and the coffee. Recently, however, the drip tray has been overflowing without signalling me to empty it. Is there a sensor, or is it simply a counter that is supposed to alert me? Any ideas on how to fix it would be appreciated!
Thanks for your post! Check the back of the drip tray-some of the older style drip trays have a little circular rubber disc along that back that can go missing (usually at some point when you're emptying it or cleaning it), which can cause that overflow. Give us a call at 1-888-411-5282, option 3, and we'll be able to help you order a replacement. Technical Support is available Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., EST.
Hi my Accademia is beginning to have issues. It is leaking water on the left side to a point now that I get very little coffee. I have cleaned the brew group and the screen at the top and that slows the leak a bit, however after half a cup I am down to drips out of the spout with all the water going onto the counter top. Does anyone know an easy way to disassemble the unit to look at the pump and hoses?
Out of curiosity, is it water or coffee leaking from the machine, and when did this start happening?
In general, I would suggest contacting technical support to review a problem like this. Unless the leak is clearly originating from the chassis of the machine, there may be other steps available that don't quite involve straight-up opening it for inspection. Even then, other troubleshooting options may be available.
Its gotten progressivly worse over the last 2 months. Clear water is leaking
I just got a refurbished Gaggia Accademia a couple weeks ago, and in general I really love it, but have a couple questions. Since it didn't come with the water hardness test strips, I'm not sure what setting I should use in the set-up -- we have a whole house water softener/purifier system so I'm pretty sure we don't need the water filters (we ran a jura capresso without one for over 5 years and it's still going strong at our vacation condo) -- I assume that "1" is for softest water, is that correct?
Also, I have problems with the milk frother spitting all over, as others have posted here. I've tried running it through auto cleaning cycles, and taking it completely apart and rinsing in hot water. Now I've bought some Urnex Rinza, but am not sure how to use it. Do I just use it as a soak for the parts, or actually run it through a cleaning cycle? If the latter, what amount do I use? Straight or diluted?
I can tell you that if you have an in house waterr softner you should be ok with descaling once a year just to be safe. I wouldn't worry about testing the water hardness with a system like that. As far as the issue with the milk frother, this might be something that our technical support team can assist with as they would be the best point of contact for an issue like this. The Rinza however should have directions on the back but it can be put directly in to the milk carafe itself and then you can run it through the cleaning cycle.
Can you tell me what the machine had fixed?
There is really no way to tell but it could range from small fixes like a hose to just a plain exchange. If you would like more information you can reach me aty 1-888-411-5282 ext 5193
Can extended warranty beyond 6mos and is there any cosmetic damage?
If you're looking at a refurbished machine on our site, any cosmetic damage will be incredibly minor at most. Machines that are more extensively marred will be sold as "Refurbished B" models. All refurbished machines carry 6 month warranties that cannot be extended. I hope this helps!
Plesase let me know about the Warranty for this Refurbished Gaggia Accademia Espresso Machine and how lound is the bean grounder on a scale of 1 being low & 10 being high noise level? Will the Refurbished Gaggia Accademia Espresso Machine comes with any of the accessories as the non-Refurbished Gaggia Accademia Espresso Machine? What year was this model manufactured? Thanks! Looking forward doing buisness with you. LWN
I can help you with a couple of the questions. The warranty would be 6 months of the refurbished model. The grinder is quiet when compared to many others on the market, I would give it a 5. As what the machine will come with. It will be just the machine, it depends on what we have, but it may be missing the scoup. Things it won't come with are the water filter a new one comes with, brew group grease and a bottle of descaler. As for the age of the machine, I cannot be certain on that.
