Varia VS3 38mm Conical Burr Sets
The Varia VS3 can be upgraded with multiple different sets of conical burrs, each of which improves heat resistance and durability when compared to the stock Supernovas that come installed on the grinder which have an *HRC58 hardness rating.
Each set features a titanium coating also that provides an increase in durability and heat resistance—because the burrs stay cooler while grinding, they’ll stay sharper longer.
Though the smooth surface on the cutting edge created by the titanium coating does slow the grinding process down somewhat, the result is an overall more consistent grind.
Supernova Gold & Black Titanium
These titanium-coated burrs improve grinding consistency at the top of the range for better particle distribution at espresso sizes. The result is an extraction with a medium body and clarity, as well as a slightly more balanced profile when compared with the base burrs.
Made from 420 Stainless Steel / HRC60
Hypernova Iridescent Titanium
Compared to the Supernova Titanium burr set, the Iridescent Hypernova adds a titanium plating to the 440 stainless steel base, increasing the HRC* of the teeth to 65. Like the Supernova burrs, these offer improved grinding at the top of the range for better particle distribution at espresso sizes, resulting in an extraction with increased clarity and a more balanced profile.

Hypernova ULTRA Plasma Titanium
The Hypernova ULTRA burrs also have pre-crushing teeth, which improve grinding efficiency and consistency at the top of the range. This results in better particle distribution at espresso sizes, allowing for extractions with vibrant clarity and definition, a balanced profile, and higher acidity—perfect for coaxing nuanced flavors from specialty, single-origin coffees.
