Gaggia Anima Basic Maintenance and Schedule
Not sure what products you need to keep your machine in good condition? We've got you covered. Here are the standard products that we recommend for cleaning products for your machine.
Cleaning and Technical Servicing
Daily Cleaning |
Empty the dump box |
Empty when indicated, or after the last drink of the day. Coffee remaining in the dump box too long can attract unwanted pests or allow mold to develop. Always empty with machine on to avoid sensor error. |
|
Empty the drip tray |
Empty as indicated by the drip tray float, or after the last drink of the day. Coffee can be present in the tray as well as the dump box. Always empty with machine on to avoid sensor error. |
Weekly Cleaning |
Clean the water tank |
Weekly hand washing with dish soap and warm water is recommended. Dishwashers should not be used to clean parts as they can cause warping of components. |
|
Clean the brewing unit |
Weekly Brew Unit Maintenance is recommended. Remember to use food safe cleaners in this area, and never apply cleaning solvents or water to the machine directly. |
Clean the milk carafe |
For the Prestige version only, weekly disassembly of the carafe for manual cleaning is recommended. The steam wand should be wiped (or carafe rinsed) after each use. |
|
Monthly Cleaning |
Lubricate the brewing unit |
After 500 dispensing cycles or when the grease is no longer present on the brewing unit. Weekly cleaning with just water should not remove the lubrication. Dish soap is recommended for brew unit cleaning on a monthly basis. |
|
Descaling |
When indicated. See the article on the descale process for more information on the method and frequency. |
|
Clean the coffee bean hopper | Wipe down the hopper as needed with a clean microfiber cloth. Avoid using standard towels or paper towels, as they tend to leave debris behind. |
|
Clean the water reservoir |
Hand wash with dish soap and warm water. See our article on reservoir piston cleaning if the reservoir has an issue with leaking. |
Cleaning the unit housing or exterior panels |
As necessary. Cleaner does not need to be food safe as long as the component does not contact coffee. Never apply cleaners or solvents to the machine directly. Apply any cleaners to a microfiber cloth before application.
