The ideal amount of ground coffee to use for the by-pass brewing is one level scoop using that scoop that came with your machine. If the machine senses a bit too much coffee being used at one time, it will dump it out and do a quick rinse. You will not get any sort of error message. If this is the amount you're trying already, I'd recommend just trying a bit less and it should work for you. You may also want to check out the brew unit area to make sure the brew unit isn't making a mess dumping out the dry coffee grounds. A messy brew group can mean it is working harder than it should to produce the puck which can lead to the brew getting cancelled.
