Varia VS3: Cleaning the Grinding Chamber

Step-by-Step Instructions
Before beginning, ensure your grinder is turned off and unplugged from the power source.

Remove the magnetic collar from the top of the grinder and set it aside.

Unscrew the hopper by rotating it counterclockwise as far as possible, and set the hopper aside.

Lift out the outer ring burr carefully, then remove the four support springs beneath it. Set these parts aside.

Remove the bearings from the outer ring burr, and clean them thoroughly using a stiff-bristled brush. Ensure all coffee grounds are removed, then set them aside.

Remove the cone burr:

Use the included socket wrench to unscrew the reverse-threaded set nut.

If necessary, stabilize the burr by wedging a screwdriver into it to prevent spinning while unscrewing the nut.

Carefully lift the locking washer off and set it aside.

Remove the cone burr, brush it clean, and set it aside.

Remove the burr carrier from the grinding chamber:

If difficult to remove by hand, use needle-nose pliers.

Carefully lift out the burr carrier and remove the two burr pins and washer attached to it.

Brush clean and set all parts aside.

Clean the grinding chamber:

Use a stiff-bristled brush to remove coffee grounds.

A vacuum cleaner with a hose attachment is highly recommended to thoroughly remove loose grounds.

Reassembly
Reassemble your Varia VS3 grinder by reversing the steps above:

Replace the burr carrier, inserting the washer and the two burr pins.

Securely lock the cone burr in place using the locking washer and the reverse-threaded set nut.

Caution: Ensure the set nut is tightly secured by stabilizing the burr carrier with a screwdriver or pliers to prevent movement during tightening.

Replace the four burr support springs.

Reinstall the outer burr and bearings carefully.

Screw the hopper back into place securely.

Replace the magnetic collar.

After reassembly, dial in your grinder settings again to achieve optimal performance.
