Varia VS3: Switching the Burrs

Preparation

Turn off and unplug the grinder.

Removing the Hopper and Collar

Remove the magnetic collar from the grinder.

Unscrew and remove the hopper by turning it counterclockwise until fully released.

Set both the collar and hopper aside in a safe place.

Removing the Outer Burr and Springs

Carefully lift out the outer ring burr along with its bearings.

Remove the four support springs beneath the outer burr and set them aside.

Removing the Cone Burr

Using the provided socket wrench, unscrew the reverse-threaded set nut.
Note: You may need a screwdriver or pliers to stabilize the burr during this step. -
Once removed, carefully lift off the locking washer, then remove the cone burr and set both aside.

Installing the New Burr Set

Place the new cone burr into position.

Secure the new burr by placing the locking washer on top and then tighten the set nut firmly using the socket wrench.

Important: Securely tighten by wedging a screwdriver or pliers into the burr carrier to prevent movement.

Reassembly

Replace the four support springs into their original positions.

Set the outer burr and bearings back into place.

Screw the hopper back onto the grinder, rotating clockwise until snug.

Replace the magnetic collar.
