Compatto Means Compact
At just 13" tall, this is the shortest Mignon grinder available.
The Eureka Mignon Specialita' Compatto is an even more compact version of the popular Specialita' line of Mignon Grinders. At just 13" tall, it's the shortest Mignon grinder available and 0.8" or 2cm shorter than the standard Specialita' but compactness isn't the only update the Compatto features. The portafilter fork has been redesigned for tool-free height adjustment, and the stepless grind adjustment knob has been replaced with Eureka's Extra-Comfort Dial.
With a powerful 310W motor, the Specialta Compatto can achieve grinding speeds of up to 1.8 - 2.5g/sec for espresso. Clumping and static are mitigated by Eureka's ACE (Anti Clumping and Electrostaticity) System, and the inclusion of Eureka's Silent Technology that reduces grinding noise to a pleasant and tolerable level. Coffee is ground with a set of 55mm flat steel burrs, treated with Eureka's Diamond Inside process. This cryogenic treatment increases surface hardness and reduces wear from grinding.
On-demand coffee dosing is programmable by time within 1/10th of a second via the LED touch display. Doses are selected via a pair of cup icons and set using the +/- buttons. Pressing both cup icons at once will set the grinder into manual mode. To start grinding, simply press the microswitch with your portafilter. To ensure a proper fit, the portafilter forks are height adjustable via a small black knob and feature a textured grip surface for greater stability.
Compared to the original Specialita', grind adjustment has been improved on the Compatto with the inclusion of the Extra-Comfort dial, a larger and easier to turn grind adjustment knob. Eureka's stepless micrometric grind adjustment allows for incredibly precise burr movement by raising and lowering the bottom burr. This also means that you won't lose your grind setting when opening the grinds chamber for cleaning.
Several other small improvements include the bean hopper which now includes a metal shutter to stop the flow of beans and the inclusion of a Mignon Dosing Funnel for 58mm portafilters.
The Eureka Mignon Speciliata' Compatto is a great option for anyone looking for a compact and convenient on-demand espresso grinder. At just 13" this grinder will fit more or less anywhere and the quiet and tidy grinding are there to seal the deal. While it isn't the fastest espresso grinder, the 55mm Diamond Inside burrs run laps around competitors in terms of longevity.
