Hello and welcome to the complete guide to Technivorm Moccamaster. If you love drip coffee, the most commonly brewed coffee in America, you'll be doing your future self a favor by reading up on the brand. If you didn't know already, they make some of the best coffee makers available. If you're thinking about getting one, you should. If you just ordered one, you're about to enjoy some of the best drip coffee that can be made at home.
Below you'll find a list of commonly asked questions about the brand and their coffee makers, and some quick answers to each. Think of this as a primer on all things Technivorm.
If you're looking to buy an excellent coffee maker, you're already in the right place. Check out Whole Latte Love's collection of Technivorm coffee makers right here. If for whatever reason you want something different or simpler, we have collections for coffee makers with grinders as well as percolators, also. Don't forget to get some really high quality coffee while you're at it.
This is going to come down to a few things: budget, features, and capacity. To make this even easier, we'll start with our most popular Moccamasters. These are the KBT 741Â and the Cup One.
The KBT 741 is one of the most sought after Moccamasters out there. It uses a 9-hole shower head that soaks coffee grounds evenly for an even extraction, and it brews up to 10 cups of delicious, perfect coffee. Plus, it only takes 6 minutes to brew. The KBT 741's heating elements monitor temperatures to ensure ideal brewing conditions, and the included 10-cup thermal carafe retains heat for serving over time.

The Technivorm Moccamaster Cup One is a unique and effective single cup coffee maker. There's no better way to make a 10 oz single serving of SCA-approved coffee in 4 minutes flat. While brewing, a pulse action pre-immersion system blooms the coffee bed. The cone shape of the brew basket is designed to steep coffee grounds perfectly to extract a full bodied, flavorful, aromatic drink. Included with the Cup One is a 10 oz porcelain mug and 80 #1 filters, as well as a removable cup holder for various mug sizes.

Coffee makers from Technivorm may look different, maybe even intimidating, compared to other coffee makers out there, but they're actually very simple to use. They work just like any other coffee maker or drip brewer you might already be familiar with. Moccamasters just do it better. Here's a simple step-by-step that should help with just about any Moccamaster out there.
Eventually, it will come time to clean your Technivorm Moccamaster. That time is every day. Or whenever you use it. Cleaning is simple enough, and mostly focused on the brew basket. Coffee residues and solids can build up inside the brew basket and you need to get rid of that mess. After you're finished making your coffee, toss the used grounds and rinse the basket. Warm, soapy water and thorough rinsing can help with the hard to wash spots. For the pot or carafe, we recommend using Urnex cleaning powder.
Urnex Full Circle™ Coffee Machine Cleaning Powder concentrated formula cleans away oily residue that can lead to bitter tasting coffee and unnecessary wear on machine. It is recommended to use Full Circle™ cleaning powder once a week.

It's easy. First things first; use an established descaling solution or decalcifier. Don't use vinegar. A good descaler will restore and maintain the taste of your drinks and break down any calcium build up inside the machine. Vinegar, while quick and dirty (and definitely cheap), tends to leave an unpleasant aftertaste you probably aren't going to like in your morning coffee. Specific instructions will vary from solution to solution, but the general idea is this:

If you value the quality and taste of your morning brew, then it's an easy "yes." Moccomaster coffee makers can appear expensive on the surface, but when you pick up a Moccamaster you're getting the top of the line. When it comes to drip coffee, Moccamaster is simply the best. Beyond that are espresso machines, which ramp up in price very quickly and may not be what you're looking for right now. But what exactly do you get for the price?
It comes down to the features. 9-hole shower heads for an even distribution of water, brew baskets especially designed for ideal steeping, independent heating elements that monitor brew temperatures, different selections of carafes, heating plates that can hold at half or full power, and more depending on which coffee maker you pick. Not to mention the durable metal housing and BPA/BPS/BPF & Phthalate free plastics. It all contributes to a superior cup of coffee that a dime-a-dozen coffee maker from the clearance section of a department store can't compete with.
Of course, it must be mentioned that these coffee makers are some of the only ones specifically approved by the Specialty Coffee Association—a deeply respected organization which sets rigid, exacting standards for what defines the best cup of coffee. It goes without saying that we agree with their assessment. So yes, a Technivorm Moccamaster is certainly worth the price.
