Learn how to use the Coffee Boost feature on the Gaggia Accademia (2022).
Essentially the coffee boost is grinding and brewing twice to result in the volume that has been selected. Otherwise, one espresso shot glass icon on the screen will equate to a single grind and puck preparation. Changing the icon to 2 glasses will prepare 2 pucks.
- You'll notice, for instance, that a single shot can be a minimum of 1 oz.
- A single boosted shot will put the minimum at 1.7 oz.
- For even smaller volumes, use the RISTRETTO setting.
One way to think of it is sort of like a step between 1 and 2 shots. In terms of convenience, setting up a single 2 oz boosted shot is not really any different than setting up a double shot at 1 oz each. But the caffeine content, the amount of coffee used, and resulting flavor would all be different. Try both ways and see which you like better!
