Learn what to do if the drip tray and service door alarm are active on your Gaggia Anima, even when they are in place. This is a common error to see on a new machine, and can be easily corrected.
What to do when both errors are active:
- The sensor is a 2 part sensor
- The dump box in the tray pushes the sensor into position for the service door
- The tab on the service door contacts the sensor, clearing both errors
-
If all parts are present and undamaged, the sensor is the likely issue.
- If the dump box is not present, the sensor will not work properly
- Damage to where the arrows indicate in the picture below will mean the sensor will not operate properly
- The sensor can get jostled out of place in shipping meaning the sensor is not making proper contact.
-
The video will show you how to take the machine apart to correct the issue
- The quick trick that Ted demonstrates will correct the issue without having to take the machine apart at all.
- The machine being apart just helps illustrate the process and is not necessary.
- See the article on Micro-switches and Sensors for information on the other sensors
- If the problem is the drip tray or service door will not remain in place, see our article entitled Drip Tray or Service Door Will Not Remain in Place
