Learn what to do if your machine is not recognizing your carafe, or the steam is not making it into the carafe from the machine.


Gaggia Accademia (2022): Milk Carafe Connection Issues

If your carafe will not connect to your machine, or there is a problem with your machine recognizing the connection, there are a few key parts to check out. The carafe connection point on your machine, the spout on the carafe that connects to the machine, and the piece in the drip tray that helps secure the carafe in place are pictured below:

Damage to any of those parts could result in a bad connection with the carafe. The two pins on the carafe spout will alternate positions based on whether your dispensing arm is swung over into dispensing position or in line with the carafe handle. This is how the machine knows if the carafe is ready to dispense. If it’s not recognizing the carafe arm being put into the dispensing position, and those pins on your spout look okay, you can go into the tech menu to check out the sensors.
