In the following video, you will see how to access the technical menu to perform a "Steam Out". The steam out procedure will reset all of the algorithms and parameters as well as drain the boilers. Some examples of times this can be helpful are:

  • When preparing the machine for shipping
  • When preparing the machine for long term storage
  • After replacing or deep cleaning the grinder
  • Minor electrical or programming malfunctions

The tech menu can be useful for testing specific functions and sensors as well. The information below will go through the tech menu page by page.

Page 1 simply displays machine information. No actions can be performed on this page.

Page 2 will allow you to test the screen light and button elements:

Page 3 will allow you to manipulate the brew unit gear inside the machine as well as checking out some of the machine's sensors. The BU work and home buttons will change the brew unit gear position.

  • Brew Unit Sensor
    • Lets the machine know if the brew unit is in the machine
    • E16 or "Insert Brew Group" means the sensor is not sensing the brew unit in place
  • Dreg Drawer (or dump box) Sensor
    • Senses a magnet on the dump box
    • Does not trigger alarm to empty, that is the dreg counter
  • Front Door
    • Located around the latching mechanism
    • If the alarm is present, push on the front door then see if it can be opened without using the button. It should not.
  • Carafe Sensor
    • Detects that carafe has been inserted
    • Carafe Milk Position refers to the handle being in the dispensing position
    • Carafe Clean Position refers to the dispensing spout being in line with the handle for cleaning

Page 4 will allow you to manipulate the pump and solenoid valves inside the machine as well as checking out some  more of the machine's sensors. The SBS buttons refer to the knob position on your dispensing spout.

  • Water Tank
    • Indicates presence of water (or mineral content) in the reservoir area
    • A false Refill Water error is a sensor issue, not a flow problem
  • Water Drip Tray
    • Refers to the sensor inside the front door the detects water in the same way as the reservoir sensor
    • Water in the door or brew unit area can trigger this alarm, even when the internal drip tray is dry and empty

Page 5 will allow you to manipulate the grinder.  The test box operates the grinder. The box to its right refers to the different aroma strength settings, but cannot be altered. The other boxes are all sensors.

  • Bean Lid
    • Your hopper has an aroma lid with a magnet by the adjustment knob
    • The sensor is inside the hopper, and detects the aroma lid when in place
  • Alarm Bean Lack
    • This is the no beans error
    • A sensor in your grinder will trigger this alarm based on your grinder's operational speed.
  • Zero Cross Error/E19
    • The zero cross error is technical and has to do with the power board
    • If this issue can be resolved at home, it will be to do with flow related issues
