Gaggia Anima: Pump Test and Ventilation

If your Gaggia Anima (and other machines with vibration pumps) is making loud pump noise but not pulling any water, you likely have an airlock in the system. If you see an alarm that looks like a red wrench with a digit in the corner, this is the machine’s on-screen version of an error code. What we internally call an E05 error typically appears as a large wrench icon in the middle of the screen with a small 5 in the corner. This guide walks you through clearing an airlock, improving ventilation, and running a pump test using the machine’s internal menus. If you have an E05 alarm or repeat priming errors, this is a good place to start.
