Learn what common error codes mean on the Gaggia Babila, as well as potential fixes to resolve error code messages. Some screen prompts aren't errors at all, your machine might just need an assist.
Gaggia Babila: Error Codes and Other Screen Messages
Screen Messages Defined:
1. The machine is not sensing that the front door is closed. Learn more about the microswitches and sensors on your machine.
2. Empty grounds box and internal drip tray. Grounds box, or dump box, has the magnet sensor while the drip tray has a water sensor in your machine's door.
3. The machine is not sensing the dump box in the machine. Make sure the magnet is clean and in place on the dump box.
4. Correctly place the coffee bean hopper inner cover to be able to prepare a beverage. Machine must sense the magnet in the clear, removable lid.
5. Remove and refill reservoir making sure to firmly reinsert. If the machine is not sensing water, there may be a problem with the sensor itself.

6. Insert the brew group back into place. Make sure it clicks in and cannot be removed again without first pushing the "PUSH" lever.
7. Machine is not sensing the carafe has been inserted. Please see our article on Carafe Connection Issues for any trouble with the machine sensing the carafe or arm position.
8. Moveable arm on the carafe needs to be swiveled out for dispensing milk or descaling solution.
9. Return dispensing arm to closed position, or press "ESC" to cancel rinse.
10. Fill the coffee bean hopper with coffee beans. If there are beans in the hopper, grinder cleaning would be the next step to try. Buildup is the main cause of a false Add Coffee message.


14. XX - The number will indicate a specific type of error. Check out the Error Codes By Number for more specific information. Flashing power light indicates standby, and does not indicate errors. Standby time can be adjusted in the main menu.
