Gaggia Cadorna: Drip Tray, Dreg Drawer, & Reservoir Maintenance
For the reservoir, as well as the brew unit, we recommend using a bit of the food safe lubricant that came with your machine. Your brew unit should be pre-lubricated, but the reservoir may not be. Apply a bit of the lubricant to the valve in the back of the reservoir chamber pictured below.
This will help in 3 Key Ways:
- Remove and install the reservoir more easily
- Keep the reservoir or front panel from breaking due to difficulty removing
- Create a better seal to help prevent leaks or air entering the system
The reservoir makes a good, tight seal by design. The lubrication will help both with the reservoir moving it and out of the machine more easily as well as helping create a good seal. You may also find that gripping the reservoir towards the bottom will help when removing or replacing.
If you notice that some portion of your reservoir has been damaged, be sure to check the reservoir and front panel as these parts can be ordered individually. The panel is meant to be detachable, but should not be coming off each time the reservoir is removed. Typically any breakage would happen around where the panel and reservoir connect at the top, so be sure to check both parts carefully. If you do find that either the reservoir or panel has broken, the links below can be used to replace either or both parts.

The Cadorna Milk or Plus with the steam wand and the Cadorna Prestige have differently colored panels. The Moonlight Grey is a third possible color option as well. The steam wand models have a black front panel while the Prestige has a stainless steel front panel. Be sure to choose the correct parts for your machine.
