Gaggia Anima: Uneven Flow or Dropping Spouts

This article explains how to fix a Gaggia Anima brew spout that will not stay up on its own (a “droopy spout”). (It is designed to pull out.)Locate the plastic arms on the spout assembly and the small rubber sleeves/guides on both sides.Using needle nose pliers, grip the plastic arm near where the plastic section begins/ends (just past that “line”) and gently bend the arm outward slightly.Repeat the same gentle outward bend on the other side.Reinstall the spout by aligning the rear brackets so they slide on the outside of the two guides inside the machine.Once aligned and started, push the spout upward firmly until it seats.Test the spout height adjustment to see if it now holds position.Remove the two plastic trim pieces on the front by prying outward from the back side and sliding them off (fingernails or a plastic pry tool can be used).Remove the two T10 Torx screws located on either side behind those trim pieces.Push up on the front cover and pull it toward you to release it.As you remove the cover, keep track of the rubber and “glass” piece and watch for the power button cover, which may fall out.Locate the single T10 Torx screw farther back in the middle and remove it.Lift the inner cover piece up and pull it off by tilting the back portion out, then sliding it off and clearing the spout.With access opened up, remove/access the spout so you can work on the plastic arms.Use needle nose pliers to gently bend each plastic arm outward slightly (the same adjustment as the quick fix), taking care not to over-bend.If coffee is only dispensing from one side (or neither side) and it is leaking around the spout area, inspect the internal brew spout outlet holes for buildup.Use a pipe cleaner (or similar small brush/long pointed tool) to poke up and down through the clogged hole(s) to help dislodge residue.If the problem continues, run brew group cleaning tablets through the machine to help break up internal buildup so it can flush out.If you still cannot clear it, consider sending the machine in for service so the spout path can be disassembled and cleaned.Slide the spout brackets onto the two internal guides (brackets ride on the outside of the guides).Hold the spout in position while you bring the inner cover piece back over it.Align the two arms of the cover piece with the two slots (one on each side), work it into place, then push it down to seat.Reinstall the single rear/center T10 Torx screw. (A magnetic driver tip can help since the screw is deep.)Install the power button cover in the correct orientation (it only goes on one way). Align the small slot on the cover with the notch on the bottom side.Make sure the rubber piece is seated properly, then guide it under the power button area as you position the front cover.Align the power button so it sits correctly in its hole, then press the cover back so both side tabs lock into place.Reinstall the two side T10 Torx screws.Slide each plastic trim piece into position (start it slightly away from the edge as shown in the video, then slide and snap the tabs in).Test the spout adjustment to confirm it now stays up and holds position.Unplug the machine before opening it.
