Learn what common error codes mean on the Gaggia Accademia, as well as potential fixes to resolve error code messages. Some screen prompts aren't errors at all, your machine might just need an assist.
Gaggia Accademia (Pre 2022): Error Codes and Other Screen Messages
Screen Messages Defined:
Correctly place the coffee bean hopper inner cover to be able to prepare a beverage. Machine must sense the magnet in the clear, removable lid.
Fill the coffee bean hopper with coffee beans. If there are beans in the hopper, grinder cleaning would be the next step to try. Buildup is the main cause of a false Add Coffee message.
Insert the brew group back into place. Make sure it clicks in and cannot be removed again without first pushing the "PUSH" lever.
The machine is not sensing the dump box in the machine. Make sure the magnet is clean and in place on the dump box.
Empty grounds box and internal drip tray. Grounds box, or dump box, has the magnet sensor while the drip tray has a water sensor in your machine's door.
The machine is not sensing that the front door is closed. Learn more about the microswitches and sensors on your machine.
Remove and refill reservoir making sure to firmly reinsert. If the machine is not sensing water, there may be a problem with the sensor itself.
Moveable arm on the carafe needs to be swiveled out for dispensing milk or descaling solution.
Return dispensing arm to closed position, or press "ESC" to cancel rinse.

This symbol to the right of the Accademia logo indicates that it is time to descale. The machine can still operate normally, but descaling is recommended as soon as possible.
Similar to the descale symbol, this symbol means The Mavea Intenza Water Filter needs to be replaced. The filter can be activated or deactivated in the main menu.
Flashing power light indicates standby, and does not indicate errors. Standby time can be adjusted in the main menu.
