Rancilio Silvia Espresso Machine

The Rancilio Silvia is known for its industrial look and robust build, featuring an iron frame and brushed stainless steel housing.  At only 13.5” tall, it fits easily under just about any kitchen cabinet.  The lead-free brass boiler is insulated and can save energy by up to 8% when in standby mode.  This large 12 oz boiler maintains impressive steam power for a machine of this size and price.  Even with such a large boiler, quick temperature recovery keeps you brewing and brewing.

Please Consult the User Manual for More Instructions on Operating the PID

We are pleased to offer the Rancilio Silvia with an Auber Instruments PID temperature controller pre-installed. With the controller you will be able to adjust the temperature inside the boiler to modify your extraction temperatures. You will set the actual temperature inside of the boiler, a provided offset chart can be used to help achieve your desired brew temperature (218° gets you close to a 200° extraction temperature).

For steam temperature control, the PID will allow you to set your desired target temperature and will more actively heat the boiler to maintain steam performance. The controller also has a programmable pre-infusion function divided in three parts. You can program an initial active wetting phase, followed by a soak phase, and then finally your espresso extraction.

The Auber PID controller is attached directly to the housing of the Silvia via adhesive strips and does limit the range of motion of the steam wand over the drip tray. The controller itself has a six month warranty.

Features and Benefits

This single-boiler espresso machine has 4 simple rocker switches.  The power switch is in the middle of the housing with two status lights: one letting you know that the machine has power, and another that tells you when the machine has reached brew temperature and steam temperature alike.  The brew switch is simple:  Turn it on to run the pump and brew your espresso, then turn it off to stop the pump when you’ve finished pulling your shot.  A hot water button will send water through the steam wand; a convenient and space-saving double use of the wand.  Finally, the steam switch will heat the boiler up to steaming temperature, and the indicator light on the power switch will tell you when the Silvia’s boiler is hot enough to produce steam.

Several items top off the commercial-quality build.  The adjustable expansion valve allows you to change brewing pressure, while a 3-way solenoid relieves pressure from the group after brewing.  The included tamper fits perfectly into the commercial-sized 58 mm portafilter, allowing you to prepare espresso like a professional barista.  A cup warming tray on top of the machine helps you make sure your espresso isn’t shocked by a cold cup.

When steaming your milk, get the perfect angle with the multidirectional, articulating steam wand.  Speaking of milk steaming, the Rancilio Silvia can deliver excellent steam power for a single-boiler; one of its most impressive attributes.

Why You Should Get It
