PID Controller
The Bezzera LUCE uses a PID controller to regulate boiler temperature for consistent extractions. Temperature can be set within 1° increments in Fahrenheit or Celsius.
The Bezzera LUCE is a PID controlled heat exchanger espresso machine that incorporates Bezzera's preferred design elements like copper boiler construction and the ability to regulate heating based on brew temperature. The LUCE's modest price belies its very stable brew temperatures and impressive steam power, coupled with its gorgeous stainless steel housing with four available colors. This machine is perfect for anyone who enjoys frequent, high quality milk drinks and who appreciates authentic Italian style and heritage.
In the looks department, the LUCE embraces Bezzera's modern design language with an updated Biscione logo and an Italian flag decal and colored pressure gauges. It features the same white PID as the ARIA and SOLE machines alongside a custom cup railing. The LUCE is available in four colors, stainless, black, green, and white and can be customized with a variety of wood accents.
Bezzera's preference for copper boilers is something that benefits the steam performance and temperature stability of their machines and the LUCE is no exception. When set to 200° F, boiler pressure rests at a modest 1.2 bar but the LUCE is capable of steaming 5oz of refrigerated milk to 140° F in just 16 seconds and recovering to max pressure in just 11 seconds. Thanks to the PID, brew temperature in the heat exchanger remains stable and is adjustable to suit your preference with minimal flushing required. When brewing, the PID converts into a shot timer and can be changed between Fahrenheit and Celsius. Beneath the cup tray, the LUCE's OPV is externally accessible and can be adjusted all the way from 4 to 13 bar.
The LUCE brews using a vibration pump and can't be plumbed, but makes up for this limitation with its huge 2 liter copper boiler and 4 liter reservoir. At 12" wide, the LUCE is a full-sized machine with a 10" x 10.5" cup warmer and a sizable drip tray with a 24oz capacity.
The Bezzera LUCE delivers on style, capacity and steaming performance, all without sacrificing temperature stability. While it might not be the most advanced machine in its class, it features temperature and brew pressure adjustment and can be upgraded with flow control and a variety of wood accents to be further customized to your preferred style and performance. Anyone looking to sling multiple milk drinks and treat their coffee well at the same time will be more than satisfied with this machine.

Brew pressure can be adjusted between 3 and 15 bar via the externally accessible OPV. The OPV is located on top of the machine beneath the cup tray.

Bezzera's retro-modern aesthetic pays homage to their Milanese roots while offering four color options that can be further customized with wood accenting.

A massive 2 liter copper boiler supplies the LUCE with water for brewing and steaming with a horizontal orientation that increases surface area for improved steaming.
