HeyCafe Buddy Espresso Grinder
The HeyCafe Buddy is a stepless espresso grinder with a set of 64mm flat steel burrs produced by Mahlkonig in Germany. Its clean touchscreen interface is easy to navigate, with options for timed single and double shots as well as fully manual grinding. The Buddy's sleek, modern aesthetic is complemented by its powder coated cast aluminum housing which also helps to disperse heat for more consistent grinding performance.
Features and Benefits
Easily the most premium of HeyCafe's grinders, the Buddy's touchscreen display takes center stage with clear information on your currently selected dose, the date, time of day, and easy access to settings and programming. Doses can be programmed within 1/10th of a second and coffee is ground at around 2.5 - 3g/sec based on your grind setting. Burr adjustment is stepless with a rotating collar beneath the bean hopper used to make changes to the upper burr.
Simply insert your portafilter into the height adjustable cradle to start grinding; hands-free grinding is possible by selecting your desired dose via the touchscreen and inserting your portafilter to activate the start switch. Coffee passes through an anti-static flap to crush clumps as it falls into your portafilter. For easy cleaning, the housing features a streamlined and edgeless design that prevents coffee from catching in seams on the grinder.
A standout feature of the Buddy are its burrs. The 64mm hardened steel burrs are produced for HeyCafe by Mahlkonig and optimized for espresso grinding, making the Buddy a great choice if you will be regularly brewing with specialty beans.
