HeyCafe HC-880 Lab Grinder
Designed for use in cupping labs, the HeyCafe HC-880 is an all-purpose grinder that is simple to operate and maintain. It's vertically mounted 84mm burrs produce consistent fluffy coffee with minimal retention. The large front-mounted adjustment dial is clearly labeled for brew methods ranging from Turkish to percolator and grinder is incredibly easy to operate with a clearly labeled rocker switch to start and stop grinding.
Features and Benefits
HeyCafe designed the HC-880 to be easy to operate and service. The grinder is housed in heavy-duty metal paneling with exposed screws so it's easy to open up for cleaning and service. The grinds chute is equipped with a bag clip for retail grinding and a knocker arm to shake loose any stuck coffee to reduce retention.
A powerful 550 W motor grinds coffee at speeds of approximately 7.5g/sec or 450g/min when grinding for espresso. The burrs are mounted vertically to the motor, meaning that when coffee is ground it falls directly through them and out of the chute. Grind adjustment is stepless, but the dial is labeled by brew method and a useful reference graph is printed on the front panel with the expected particle size in microns charted by setting.
Why You Should Get It
The HeyCafe HC-880 is an affordable option for lab grinding with large burrs and consistent particle distribution for a variety of brew methods. It isn't the fastest bulk grinder on the market so its application will be more limited in café settings, but the bag clip and knocker are great additions for convenient operation.
