The Lelit William is an attractive 64mm burr grinder that was designed to be the perfect companion to Lelit’s assortment of home espresso machines. Wrapped in brushed steel housing with a tinted hopper and a solid metal lid, the William’s lines and materials echo the curves of the Victoria, Elizabeth and Bianca. Its circular OLED display shares that same DNA and can be programmed to dispense single and double shots between 2 and 20 seconds. The William also features a manual start/stop button located next to grind adjustment that can be used to tease out the last bits of your dose.
With its 64mm burrs and powerful motor the William can produce grinds suitable for espresso at a rate of 2.5g/sec. Numbered 1 - 10, the grind adjustment dial rotates in half step increments and is capable of multiple full revolutions in half step increments. On top of the dial, the William has a unique feature in the form of a platform that serves as a handy spot to store your tamper when not in use. Programming doses on the William makes use of the “-” and “+” buttons on the circular OLED display. Pressing “-” enters programming and cycles through the menu while pressing “+” confirms a selection within the menu. Doses can be programmed within 1/10th of a second
Grinding and does selection on the William are controlled via a microswitch located behind the panel below the grinds chute. To accommodate portafilters of different shapes and sizes the top pin is height adjustable while the chute can be adjusted to change the angle at which coffee is dispensed into the portafilter. Atop the grinder, the William’s hopper holds up to 12.3oz of whole bean coffee and is sealed with a heavy metal lid.
If you’re a fan of the Lelit look, the William is a no-brainer when it comes to selecting a grinder. Regardless of your machine however, the high speed grinding, consistent particle distribution and compatibility with all kinds of portafilters make it a strong option in any setup.
Despite its compact size the William houses an impressive set of 64mm steel burrs. The large diameter helps to ensure consistent particle size while grinding, allowing the William to perform at a level suitable for premium prosumers like the Lelit Bianca.
For precise grind adjustment, micrometric gear movement is used to control the positioning of the burrs. The adjustment knob is labeled with a range of 1 - 10 for easy navigation of the stepped grind settings.
Grinding time is programmable via the OLED display and can be uniquely set for single and double doses. When dialing in or grinding manually, the Add/Stop button can be used to dispense coffee on-demand as needed.
The William was designed to pair with any of Lelit’s espresso machines. Symmetry between elements like the circular OLED display and the steel housing put the William in perfect sync with any of its potential partners.
