Grind-by-Weight Dosing
Coffee doses are ground by weight and can be programmed within 1/10th of a gram. If desired, the optional Portafilter Detection mode can be activated to automatically select a dose based on the portafilter used.
Mahlkonig's E80W GbS is Mahlkonig's most powerful and most accurate commercial espresso grinder. Grind fluffy 21g triple shots by weight with 1/10th of a gram accuracy in just three seconds. Burr positioning on the E80W GbS is tracked digitally and controlled via a motor for incredible precision when making adjustments. When synced with a compatible La Marzocco or Sanremo espresso machine, the burrs will adjust themselves automatically to maintain consistent extractions throughout the day.
The Grind-by-Sync functionality of the E80W GbS allows the grinder to be connected to a compatible espresso machine from La Marzocco or Sanremo. Grind-by-Sync works by connecting the grinder to the espresso machine via Wifi or a wired cable and programming your desired recipe. Recipes in the E80W GbS contain your desired coffee dose by weight, your desired burr position, and your extraction time. Shot time is communicated to the grinder from the machine and burr position is adjusted automatically as needed if the reported shot time is too fast or too slow. The grinder will course correct throughout the day, leaving baristas free to focus on other tasks while espresso remains consistent.
The following machines are compatible with Grind-by-Sync:
Strada S, KB90, Linea PB, Linea PB X, Linea Classic S, GB5 S, or GB5 X in AV or ABR configurations
Café Racer, F18 Multiboiler, F18 SB, D8 PRO, or D8 standard
Mahlkonig's Disc Distance Detection or DDD system is an automated burr positioning system that digitally tracks burr position and makes adjustments via a sensor controlled motor. Grind adjustment is accurate within 0.001mm and is tracked onscreen as μm.
When utilizing Grind-by-Sync, the burrs will adjust themselves automatically based on extraction data received from the machine. Even without the Sync System, DDD is incredibly useful for calibrating multiple grinders for the same coffee and simple zero-point calibration with a dedicated menu option to zero burrs as needed, such as when installing new burrs or after a deep clean of the grinder.
Weight based grinding allows you to program multiple doses by weight within 1/10th of a gram with dispensing accurate within 1/10th of a gram. Unique to Mahlkonig is their portafilter detection feature which, when selected, will automatically select and grind a dose based on the portafilter inserted. In cases where multiple portafilters are used by baristas, this eliminates the need to select a specific dose when changing portafilters based on different drink recipes as necessitated by a workflow.
Coffee is ground by a set of 80mm flat steel burrs and a massive 850 W motor with an idle rpm of 1,700. The E80W GbS is able to achieve incredible speeds of up to 7-8g/sec at 250μm. Programming and menu navigation are made simple by the vivid touchscreen display, buttons and rotary encoder knob.
Certifications/Conforms To:
CE, CB, ETL Safety, ETL Sanitation, IEC/EN 60335-1, IEC/EN 60335-2-64, UL 763, CSA C22.2 No. 195, NSF/ANSI 8
The E80W GbS is extremely powerful and precise. From the accuracy of weight based grinding with portafilter recognition to the micron level precision of Disc Distance Detection, this grinder just won't quit when it comes to maintaining consistency in even the most strenuous conditions. The 80mm burrs and 7-8g/s speed mean that this grinder will keep pace in all environments regardless of demand or volume, especially when synced with a compatible espresso machine to self-adjust grind size as needed.
Coffee doses are ground by weight and can be programmed within 1/10th of a gram. If desired, the optional Portafilter Detection mode can be activated to automatically select a dose based on the portafilter used.

Mahlkonig's Sync System connects the E80W GbS to one of several compatible machines from La Marzocco and Sanremo. You set your desired recipe time and the grinder will automatically adjust your grind finer or coarser based on whether your shot went over or under your set time.

Grind size is adjusted digitally via a motor and gears and tracked via µm. A pair of sensors track the cone shaft and motor position to enable grind adjustments with 0.001mm precision. Grind sizes can be assigned to recipes to easily set or reset burr position even across multiple grinders.

The E80W GbS uses Mahlkonig's DDD (Disc Distance Detection) system to track burr position. Recalibrating the system is easy thanks to the dedicated calibration process that helps you find and reset the zero point of the burrs.
