Bezzera Matrix MN Overview
Please Read Before Purchasing:
Bezzera has updated their Matrix espresso machines with a 20 amp power cord.
We are including an adapter for you to use if you only have a 15 amp outlet available.
If you are connecting your machine to a 15 amp outlet, you must NOT use the option for both boilers to heat at the same time.
During bench testing, we have set your machine to be “Coffee” Boiler priority. We strongly recommend that you do not change this setting.
The Matrix MN will stand out in any modern kitchen with its rosewood detailing, stainless steel front panel and customizable body color that adapts to any environment or taste. Just like the Bezzera DUO MN, the Matrix MN packs a dual boiler, one dedicated to steam and the other to brew water, both of which are regulated by individual PIDs. In combination with the traditional E61 group, which constantly syphons hot water through the brew circuit, this makes for seriously temperature stable operation.
Features and Performance
The vibrant touch screen display rests on the PIDs for temperature changes on the fly, with the brew temp displayed on the left and the steam temp on the right. Within a few clicks you can program the machine to turn on and off at particular times, change from reservoir to plumbed operation, and access maintenance cycles. The display will also alert you to low water levels in the reservoir, and remind you to replace or recharge your water filter as necessary.
To avoid refills altogether, you can plumb the machine directly into a water line, which allows you to easily integrate a BWT filtration system and eliminate scale build up at the same time. Our favorite element, as you might imagine, are the Matrix MN’s side panels. They can be customized to your heart’s content across the RGB color spectrum, which, we admit, is what we spent a majority of our time doing when the Matrix MN first arrived.
The Matrix MN isn’t just nice to look at, though, it delivers delicious shots, too. Bezzera integrated an automated pre-infusion cycle, programmable right from the touch screen, that soaks the grounds at a low pressure prior to brewing for excellent extractions. Brew using the intuitive push button and toggle operation, where each function is designated by a stylized icon. The Matrix MN’s rosewood steam knob toggles on for powerful steaming, and flipping it up locks it into place for an uninterrupted stream.
Why You Should Get It
Not only does the Matrix MN have a ton of functionality for truly excellent shots, she’s just so pretty. That's to say, the light scattering side panels are a delight to play with, and easily start a conversation. The touchscreen display is a pleasure to use, and offers a surprisingly deep level of functionality and control. The PID controllers add incredible temperature stability as well, accessed and adjusted to your liking through the touchscreen display.
