The Eureka Oro Zeus is a powerful all-purpose coffee grinder with Eureka's ICE Motion TECH variable speed AC motor. Fluffy grounds are dispensed at speeds of up to 10g/sec thanks to its massive 85mm flat burrs, while the Zeus' dedicated single-dosing design all but eliminates retention thanks to a combination of bellows, a knocker bar, and the new "bell" burr chamber.
Because of the steep angle of the burrs, retention is significantly reduced, with coffee falling from the burrs directly into the bell and out the grinds chute. The Zeus is designed to grind all coffees and for all methods, making it perfect for experimentation, but its heavy-duty design can stand up to commercial use with ease.Â
85mm Diamond Inside Burrs
With a massive 85mm diameter, the Zeus is tied with several Eureka grinders for having the largest burrs in their catalog. The cutting geometry has been designed to achieve particle distribution that is suitable for all brew methods, with the variable RPM of the motor allowing further refinement into your desired range. Burr adjustment is stepless using Eureka's micrometric adjustment to make incredibly precise changes to your grind with a numbered adjustment knob to the right of the hopper.
On the front of the Zeus, the "Bell" assembly covers the grinding chamber with the coffee chute and knocker assembly built into it. The bell can be removed for cleaning and provides easy access to the burrs.
Variable RPM Grinding
The Zeus' variable RPM grinding allows you to change the motor speed on the Zeus between 750 and 1,400 RPM. By changing the speed, you can affect the particle distribution, increasing either the concentration of fines or the uniformity of particles to better optimize for higher yield extractions or greater clarity.
Motor speed is adjusted by a heavy-duty metal knob to the left of the hopper. RPM measurements are labeled on the knob and adjustments provide a satisfying tactile click.
Single-Dosing Design
Single-dosing is a must for all-purpose grinding and the Zeus is designed for high speed and minimal retention. The steep angle of the burrs helps direct coffee out of the chamber while the massive 85mm diameter does the rest. To achieve near zero retention, Eureka's Blow Up System bellows assembly pushes any remaining coffee out of the grinds chamber.
While grinding, the Zeus can achieve speeds of 1.2 - 5g/sec for espresso and 2.5-10g/sec for filter. Coffee can be ground directly into the included 45g dosing cup. Under the chute is a tool-free, height adjustable platform.
The motor on the Zeus can be set between 750-1,400 RPM while grinding via a manual dial. By changing the RPM you can modify your grind for higher uniformity and cups with greater clarity, or more fines for higher extraction yields.
Coffee is ground with a massive set of flat 85mm Diamond Inside burrs with a grinding life of up to 1,500 kg. The burrs are contained in a "bell" assembly for easy access with the rotating bottom burr hanging freely, lowering retention.
The Zeus achieves high speed and low retention thanks to its incredibly unique design. The steep angle feeds coffee through the burrs while the bellows and knocker attachment shake and push loose coffee out of the grinder.
With 85mm burrs and a 400 watt motor, the Zeus is capable of grinding at speeds as high as 5 - 10g/sec depending on the brew method. Its heavy-duty build and easy maintenance access ensure the Zeus can keep pace in high volume environments.
