TUNE Technology
The namesake of the R58, the TUNE technology allows you to set pre-infusion and ramp down to a fixed low pressure of 3 bar. Shots will now be split up into pre-infusion, extraction, and final stage.
Rocket Espresso's R58 TUNE is the latest version of their signature dual boiler platform, updated with a striking modern design and equipped with new brewing technology to tame any coffee. The Tune Technology uses a fixed 3 bar pressure for both pre and post-infusion in order to eliminate channeling at the start of the shot and gently ramp down to prevent overextraction at the end.
Aesthetically, the R58 TUNE stands tall on a new set of black painted legs that solidify its presence on the counter top. Compared to past versions, the R58 TUNE has a number of rounded edges on the frame, drip tray, and cup railings that streamline its appearance. The control pod for the boilers has been moved to the top left of the machine and provides a vivid and responsive interface to monitor and adjust the temperatures in both boilers.
Front and center on the machine, Rocket's fast heating E61 has the R58 TUNE ready to brew in as little as 15 minutes while the new Push-Turn knobs allow you to press the steam knob for a quick burst of steam or turn it for continuous pressure.Â
Tune Technology
The R58's Tune Technology is its marquis feature and allows you to create three step brewing profiles with a fixed 3 bar pre-infusion and ramp down phase built into the shot. This feature gently pre-infuses coffee at the start of your shot to help tame lighter coffees that are freshly off roast and to reduce channeling. In that same vein, the reduced pressure at the end of the shot can prevent overextraction by gently ramping down. Tune Technology helps you extract the best out of any coffee, especially when combined with the precision of the PID controlled brew boiler.
Dual Boilers
The R58 was Rocket's first dual boiler espresso machine and that hasn't changed. With a 0.58 L brew boiler and 1.8 L steam boiler, the R58 TUNE can brew and steam simultaneously and allows you to independently program the temperature in each boiler via PID control. Boiler temperatures are actively monitored and displayed on the removable control pod that attaches to the left side of the machine.
Unlike many machines whose displays use small buttons or knobs, the touchscreen is simple to operate and attaches magnetically on the top left of the machine. There is also a second smaller display beneath the steam valve that displays your shot time while brewing.
Heated E61 Brew Group
Rocket's new signature group head is an evolution of the traditional E61 brew group with new fast heating technology to rapidly bring the machine to brewing temperature. Embedded in opposite sides of the group are a temperature probe and a heating element. The probe controls the element which will actively heat the group until a temperature of 91° C (appx. 196° F) has been reached, after which the heating element is turned off and the E61 thermosiphon will finish heating and maintain temperature.
In addition to reducing heat-up time, the new group design also helps temperatures to recover more quickly in the event that the group is cooled rapidly, for instance, by pulling back-to-back shots.

New on the R58 TUNE are Rocket's Push-Turn knobs that feature dual actuation design. By either turning the knob or pressing it, you can open the steam and hot water valves.

The namesake feature, the E61 group is actively heated on initial startup with a dedicated heating element, bringing the machine to full brew readiness in as little as 15 minutes.

Both the brew and steam boilers in the R58 TUNE are controlled via PID, allowing you to set your desired temperature in each boiler in increments of 1° for precise brewing and steaming.
